How to book a careers appointment ⭐️
You can book a half an hour appointment with a careers adviser in advance. To do this pop into the Careers Centre or call us between 8.45am and 10am on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (01334 462688).
You can also now book an Afternoon Appointment on the day, online through CareerConnect. Sign in to CareerConnect via the Careers Centre homepage. Once into CareerConnect select ‘Book Appointment’ from the top banner. You can browse the appointments available for the day and book the time and adviser, which best suits you.
Bookings for Afternoon Appointments is open from 12.30pm on the same day.

Converge Challenge
Converge Challenge is the leading, Scotland wide company creation and entrepreneurship competition for staff, students and recent graduates of Scottish Universities and Research Institutes, aimed at creating a new generation of entrepreneurs in Scotland through a £150k+ prize fund of cash and in-kind support.
There are three categories: Converge Challenge, a company creation and training programme for new start or early stage projects that are likely to incorporate within 12 months; KickStart Award for early stage ideas for a new product or service; Social Enterprise Award for businesses focused on social problems.
The deadline for entries is 29th March 2018.

Take part in the ICAEW 100 challenge
ICAEW is inviting you to test your skills against your peers by taking two short online exercises. Students with the top 100 scores by the time the competition closes at noon on the 3rd April 2018 will be in with a chance of winning this amazing opportunity as well as a range of other exclusive prizes for students who achieve high scores in each of the areas of testing.
The student with the highest overall score once the competition has closed will represent the ICAEW at the One Young World Summit 2018 in the Netherlands! The summit brings together the most valuable young talent from around the world with world leaders, who act as the One Young World Counsellors. Previous delegates at the Summit have had the chance to meet Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Sir Bob Geldof, Kofi Annan and Sir Richard Branson.
Through a short online application and exercise, students from all years and disciplines have the potential to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event, in addition to adding exceptional extra-curricular experience to your CVs.

National Insurance Numbers
If you intend to work while studying in the UK, an employer will require you to provide them with a National Insurance Number (NINo), so that they can pay your wages and make any applicable tax or national insurance deductions. UK residents are allocated a number automatically at the age of 16. However, European or International students will not have this number so will need to apply for one.
