2018-19: Leading the Herd (1)
Welcome Back, Longhorns!
Please read all the way through to the end of this newsletter. It contains an exciting piece of information just for you!
We can't wait to see your smiling faces at Meet the Teacher this week! Remember that if you will be walking your child to class on the first day, you will want to drop your license off so we can run your V-soft sticker while you walk around. Pick up your tag on the way out, and you will be able to skip the long line on Day 1!
Walking your children back:
Any/Every Day - All parents may walk to the Hug&Kiss zone in the foyer, and children will continue past the hallway doors on their own (We always have staff in the hallways to help!)
Day 1 (August 21) - All grades; parents must have visitor sticker
Days 1-3 (August 21, 22, 23) PK and Kdg; parents must check in at front desk and get visitor sticker
Days 1-5 (August 21, 22, 23, 24, 27) PK; parents must check in at front desk and get visitor sticker
Thank you! This helps us ensure that staff attention is focused on children and safe protocols are in practice.
Meet Your 3rd Grade Homeroom Teacher: Mrs. Myers, room 308
Someone I greatly admire told me, ‘You love your students into learning.’ This is the greatest compliment I’ve ever received as an educator and speaks to the way I treat my students. It is a great privilege to share a year with a child. I believe relationships must come before content for a successful year. Collaboration and communication between school and home is key to insure children feel safe, supported, and loved in all their endeavors.
When the school day is done, my greatest enjoyment comes from time spent with family, talking until the wee hours of the night, watching movies, sharing good books we’ve read, vacationing together, or learning new things. One thing we especially love to do is cook together. This summer we decided to start some friendly cooking competitions. Definitely a win-win for everyone!
I look forward to meeting each of you and beginning our 3rd grade journey!
