Eat. Bid. Enjoy. - HGES PTO Fundraiser
The Hickory Grove PTO was extremely sad we had to postpone our restaurant night to May 12, but the good news is we can look forward to a fun event with good food, bidding, and a 50/50 raffle! Let's keep our fingers crossed for sunshine. Bidding will remain open another 2 weeks. All proceeds will go toward our new Outdoor Learning Center. The faster we can raise funds, the faster we will be able to complete this project!
There is a Fund-a-Need option which allows you to directly donate to the Outdoor Learning Center. This is the last event of the year, so let's make it count. We hope to make lots of progress on the construction of the Outdoor Learning Center over the summer!

Nurse Notes
A Note From The Nurse
All medications that are currently at the school need to be picked up on or before the last day of school, May 27, 2021. Over the counter/daily meds need to be picked up by a parent. Emergency medications can be sent home with your child. Please email or call if you would like emergency medications sent home on the last day of school. We will be disposing of any medications left behind after the last day of school.
Reminders for the 2021/2022 school year
- Medication/Care plan forms need to be completed at the start of every school year.
- These forms can be found on our School website under “Parents” > Additional Forms
- Any prescription medications to be taken during school hours must be brought to school by a parent in a prescription container with the name of the medication, the doctor, the amount to be given, and the time of day to be taken. Our District Medication Authorization Form must be completed and brought in with the medication before it can be given at school. Prescription medications need a physician’s signature!
- Over the counter medications (i.e.: Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Claritin, eye drops, ointments, cough drops) also need a Medication Authorization form filled out in order to be administered at school. Please be aware that these items need to be brought in from home as the school district does not provide them.
- If your child has a medical diagnosis, such as Asthma, Seizures, Food Allergies, etc… an Action Care Plan for that condition also needs to be completed.
- Incoming Kindergarten students must have current State of Illinois Physical, Illinois Dental, Illinois Eye exam and updated immunizations upon starting school.
- Incoming Second grade students must have a current Illinois Dental Exam.
- These procedures need to be followed to ensure the safety and well being of all our students.
If you have any questions or I can be of assistance to you, please send me an email mwatts@dunlapcusd.net or call me at 243-8711.

Thank You
Erin Funk has worn many hats at the school and on the PTO. She served on the PTO for two years as the Staff Appreciation Co-Chair and impressed us with her culinary and catering skills and incredible thoughtfulness. She then took over as the VP of Membership and managed our HR needs, lead the Nominating Committee, and provided guidance as an Exec Board member. We wish Erin and her family well and can't thank her enough for her dedication and efforts over the years.
We are also losing our PTO Treasurer, Kalyan Vutukuri, who has served on the PTO and Exec Board for two years. Kalyan and his wife Neelima have demonstrated incredible commitment to the school and the PTO and we appreciate their service.
Male Valls served as the Staff Appreciation Co-Chair this year and is also leaving us. We wish Male and her family well and appreciate her help with planning and delivering COVID friendly staff treats, lunches, and preparing the upcoming Teacher Appreciation Week festivities!
We would also like to thank Sarah Stuckwisch who has served on the PTO for 3 years as the Restaurant Night Co-Chair. She has helped organize countless dine-out events that have raised thousands of dollars for the school. We appreciate her willingness to continue volunteering with the PTO as needed.
