Tisch's Tidbits
Thank You!
We had an awesome Valentine's Day party thanks to some fantastic moms! A big thank you to Mrs. Corbin and Mrs. Sailer for coordinating all three parties this year. You rock in my book!
Long Weekend
Just a reminder I won't see these cuties until next Wednesday. Safe travels if you are going somewhere. Hopefully it is warm or full of snow if you are skiing!
ISTEP
We completed the ISTEP practice today, so the kids are familiar with the tools and format. We will test on:
Thursday March 1
Friday March 2
Monday March 5
Tuesday March 6
We will test in the morning each day after snack starting around 9:20. Please be sure your child has a fantastic night's sleep and a good breakfast in the morning. We will have snack before testing, so remember to send something in. Don't forget a hug, fist pump, and, "You are a smart kiddo! You've got this! Remember this is a celebration of what you know!" as they leave for school. We will move desks next week so they are use to the new seating arrangement. I will also cover the information in my room since this is ISTEP protocol. Good times!
ZMS forms
Please remember the music choice form and profile sheet are due next week. They will be picked up on the Thursday, February 23, so please have them in by then. I have touched base with all of the students who still need to turn theirs in so they should know if you ask.
Indiana State House Field Trip
Our final field trip of the year will take place on Tuesday, March 13. The schedule of the day includes:
lunch 10:30
leave 11:00
tour 12-1:30
leave 1:30
arrive at UE 2:15
The State House said three parents may attend with each classroom. No need to lead groups as the docent will do everything, but it's nice to have extras eyes and hands. It's a pretty cool field trip! If you would like to attend, just shoot me an email. I'll send out the names of the chaperones next Friday, We will dress up for the field trip. Sunday's best attire would be appropriate.
Spelling
We took a spelling test today. No test next week with having a long weekend.
Blast From the Past Spirit Day
On Friday, February 23rd Union will have a fun spirit day at school! The spirit day is Blast From the Past. Your child can wear any fashion trends from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.
· For example in the 50s girls wore pencil and poodle skirts were popular. The boys would wear: Letterman jackets, bowling shirts, and chunky glasses.
· In the 60s, you could wear mind-blowing colors, patterns, and simple textures.
· In the 70s it was the era of disco! Bell-bottom jeans, flowy hair, and extravagant patterns were commonly seen on boys and girls. Also, this was known as “Hippie” apparel: such as circle shades, bright colors, or beads.
· In the 80s Leg warmers, neon colors, jean jackets, and of course that big hair that everyone loves so much!
· In the 90s people liked jeans, overalls, and flannels.
If your child needs help deciding what to wear, just google pictures at home! There will be NO coin collections, as this is just a fun day at Union!
Thank you for showing your school spirit,
Your Union Elementary Student Council
Kroger Gives Back!
Now that Kroger is rocking our worlds with their new stores and low prices, they’re also going to help our school!
If you haven’t gotten a Kroger Plus card yet, sign up for one and then add Union Elementary to your Community Rewards organization name.
If you already have a Kroger card simply hop on your computer and follow these easy steps…
1.) Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
2.) Click on “Kroger Community Rewards”
3.) Click on “View your rewards details”
4.) Scroll to “Community Rewards” and click “Edit”
5.) Type in 31364 and hit “search”
6.)Click on Union Elementary, and hit “Enroll”
Let Grandma and Grandpa know how easy that was, and get them signed up too. Now Kroger will give Union a percentage of what you spend which helps in many ways. This small action helps buy school supplies, instruments for music class, and much more. Thanks for your support. If you have any questions or need help please contact Brittany Henney at Brittanykay1@gmail.com
2nd Semester Volunteers
The second semester is here! If you are interested in helping me prepare some things for the classroom or possibly work with a small group, I would love to have your help! I am flexible with times, so just let me know the time you will come. I have a break from 8:30-9:00 each day so this is an easy time for me to show you what to do. My lunch varies on the other days between 12:00-1:00. Thank you in advance for all of your help!
