Message from Principal Mosgrove
Dear Park Village Families,
I hope you are all doing well during this unprecedented time. I want you to know that I have been in regular communication with our teachers and staff over the past two weeks and that we miss all of you very much. The health and safety of our families and communities are the top priority as we all adjust to school closures and adapt to new routines.
We are continuing to send the Penguin News home each week via Connect Ed messages. Please make sure to check it for school related updates and information to support our students and families over the coming weeks.
As Superintendent Phelps shared in her message last week, our present focus is to ensure all teachers and students have the tools and resources necessary to participate in Distance Learning. This week, we will be distributing Chromebooks to families based upon the needs assessment conducted by PUSD. The goal is to ensure every family will have access to a device and learning tools by April 6th. If you still need a device, please complete the device checkout form as soon as possible.
If you plan to use a device you already have at home, you can check the system requirements and find other useful information regarding CANVAS/MyConnect as well as FAQ’s regarding technology access on the PUSD website Technology and Innovation page.
This week, our teachers will be collaborating and planning the shift from optional enrichment activities to more specific learning schedules, content, and support through virtual office hours. It is important to note that these schedules will be scaled down and somewhat flexible versus traditional seat time in a classroom at school.
Please refer to the following timeline:
Phase Two: Week of March 30th -April 3rd.
Planning and preparation for Distance Learning
- Ensure equitable access for all students (device check out/access to MyConnect)
- Teacher professional development/school-wide and team-level planning
Phase Three: Week of April 6th-10th
- “Soft Launch” of Distance Learning
Spring Break: Week of April 13th-17th
Phase Four: April 20th-TBD
- Distance Learning continues (based upon direction from the State of California)
We appreciate your consideration, patience, and grace as we continue to navigate these challenging circumstances. Park Village is an exceptional learning community with strong school and home partnership. Although our schooling presently looks different, I am confident our students will continue to learn and that we will get through this temporary situation together.
Best regards,
Michael Mosgrove
Principal
PUSD 2020-2021 Continuing Student Registration is coming in April!
The online Continuing Student Registration website will be open April 1 - April 30, 2020. Parents and Guardians will receive email notification once the website is open. We must receive a completed digital packet for all returning students. This will allow for proper placement of your student for the 2020-2021 school year. This annual digital process will allow a family to complete one single “family” packet instead of completing one packet per student. Packets can be completed using any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection. If you do not have access to any computing device or internet connection, your student’s school will provide access to complete the packet.
In preparation of this process, now is the time to confirm that you know your parent login username and password. This information will be needed to complete the registration packet. Please take a moment and ensure you can login to https://sis.powayusd.com . If you do not know your username and/or password, you can visit https://password.powayusd.com to retrieve your login credentials.
Please notify your current school as soon as possible if you do not plan to return to PUSD for the 2020-2021 school year. Thank you for your attention to this important process.

Help Build the Library's Collection with New or Gently Used Books
By Shelley Fleming, Librarian
Are your shelves overflowing with hardcover picture or chapter books that your kids have outgrown or don’t want to read? The school library would love to receive them! One kid’s trash is another kid’s treasure. It’s a great way to reduce and recycle. It also helps stretch the library’s very limited budget.
The library accepts hardcover children’s books that are in good condition and are age-appropriate for kindergarten to fifth grade students. No paperbacks, young adult or adult books, please. Place your donations in the collection box just inside the library door.
Families can also donate new library books from our Amazon Wish List (http:// a.co/2ZY3HZ) throughout the school year with the Library's Birthday Book Club program. Learn more about it at https://www.powayusd.com/en-US/Schools/ES/PVES/Academics/Library/Library-Home
Thank you very much!
