UPCOMING EVENTS and ITEMS of NOTE
Band Performances
Congratulation to the Region 6 Jazz band, 5th grade band and 6th grade band on another wonderful performance last night! The 4th grade band students will perform at Goshen Center School on Monday, January 30th at 6:00 PM.
Global School Play Day
On February 1, 2017, from 2:00 - 3:15PM, Region 6 Elementary Schools will join PK-12 schools from around the world to participate in Global School Play Day (GSPD) and enjoy some unstructured play time. Unstructured play helps students to develop creativity, passion, communication, collaboration, and a wide variety of other important skills. In his TEDx lecture, Peter Gray argues the case that today's kids do not grow up playing, which has negatively impacted them in many ways. Gray’s talk inspired the creation of Global School Play Day. Students may bring toys from home on Wednesday, February 1st.
- Please do not send in toys that are fragile or have removable parts that might become easily lost.
- Electronic devices, toys with batteries, and toy weapons are not allowed.
- Possible toy choices include board games, dolls, Legos, blocks, trucks, cars, playing cards, empty cardboard boxes, markers, jigsaw puzzles, blankets (for forts), social games (charades, Pictionary, etc.)
It is our hope that this one afternoon of play will inspire families to plan for more unstructured “electronic-free” play time during non-school hours. We are looking forward to a great afternoon of unstructured play!
Activity Night and Sports Clinic
On Saturday, February 11th, all 4th, 5th, and 6th graders are invited to participate in an activity night and sports clinic that will run from 5pm to 7pm in the small and large gyms at Wamogo. School Delay/Cancellation Alerts
Winter weather is underway, and with it comes inevitable delays and cancellations. Please be sure that your contact information is up to date, so that the alert system, School Messenger, can notify you of delays and cancellations in a timely manner. JMS Sunflower Walking Sticks
JMS 4th grade students are creating walking sticks by repurposing sunflower stalks grown in the Giving Garden. These walking sticks will be sold to raise money for the White Memorial Foundation because we all use the trails and have learned so much about our environment through White Memorial. Please see the flyer below to order. Supplies are limited!
JMS Sunflower Seed Company
The mission of JMS Sunny Seeds Seed Co. is to provide organic, raw, nutritional Giving Garden sunflower seeds and to reach out to help others in need. Through the purchase of the seed packets, our customers will help continue our support of local soup kitchens and the Little Guild Animal Shelter and Rescue Center in West Cornwall, CT. This project was started and coordinated by 6th graders. All K-6 students are helping to weigh seeds and make packets.
We hope you'll support this project by purchasing seeds using this order form:

Cold Weather Clothing
As stated in our Student/Parent Handbook, we try to hold recess outdoors whenever possible. Students without boots must stay on the blacktop area as long as snow covers the playground.
