Madison Memos

The Madison School Newsletter / January 23, 2015

Dear Parents,

It’s a busy time of year at Madison Elementary! Please allow me to take the opportunity to inform you of some of the major initiatives and events happening in the near future.

Institute Days The elementary staff around District 200 are lucky enough to have two professional development days. On Jan. 16, Madison staff learned about Google Classroom and other Google Apps for Education. On Feb. 27, all District 200 elementary staff will engage in grade level specific, professional development provided by District 200 leadership.

PARCCOur standardized testing schedule will be very different this year as the State of Illinois has adopted PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) to replace the ISAT exam. Since the PARCC assessments are internet based and require students to use district technology, we will be spreading our assessment schedule over a three-week period from Mar 9 - Mar 27. It is VERY important that students in grades 3-5 be present during their assigned testing dates. If any students are planning to miss school the days before Spring Break, it is absolutely imperative that parents let me know as soon as possible as I finalize the assessment schedule.

Celebrating 50 Years Madison is celebrating 50 years of excellent education this year! We will be celebrating and recognizing each decade of our history over the next few months. This month we are celebrating the 60s! Jan 27 will be “60s Day”. Students and staff are encouraged to dress in 60s attire and we will have a special assembly to educate students about life at Madison and in our community during the 1960s.

Thank you for all you do to partner with us in your children’s education,

Tim Callahan, Principal

Madison Elementary
