Week of February 25th
Girls on the Run is coming to Rising Star this spring!
Grab your running shoes and join the Girls on the Run fun! This 10-week program for girls in 3rd through 6th grade, educates and prepares girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Using a well-researched curriculum, volunteer coaches teach life lessons through fun interactive games combined with training for a non-competitive 5K event. Topics include: getting rid of negative self-talk, how to deal with bullying, gossip and peer pressure, nutrition, making healthy choices and much more. Practices are twice a week for 90 minutes and meet Mondays and Wednesday from 3:15-4:30pm. The season begins the week of February 25 and concludes on May 10. All girls will run or walk in the celebratory, non-competitive 5K event on Saturday, May 4 at Children’s Mercy Park (home of Sporting KC).
Optional payment plans available. These options will be available at program registration checkout, which opened Saturday, February 9 at 8 a.m.

Books can be found in our Rising Star Library, in most teacher’s classrooms, at the Johnson County Library & of course on Amazon or in brick & mortar stores. If you choose to purchase the books for your student, please consider donating them at the end of the year so that we can have more copies available to lend out each year. Donated books can be given to Mr. Wilson in the library. Thank you!
*Chat & Chew Party: Those students who have read & attended at least 3 Chat & Chew book sessions are invited to bring their lunch & their favorite book to share with their peers.
