Weekly Updates March 1, 2020
Happy Sunday Pirate Families,
What an amazing week at Swansboro High School! A special thank you today goes to our parents and staff volunteers for hosting our annual Project Graduation Reverse Raffle last night. All proceeds directly benefit the all night celebration that is held after graduation each year. Thank you also to the community for generously supporting our efforts.
Alphonoso Hill put Swansboro on the national map this week as a special visitor at the White House. Be sure to take the time to watch his speech which is included in this weekly newsletter.
Thank you to our juniors for doing a great job on the ACT on Tuesday. Thank you also to our Pirate Parents for donating snacks at break time. Parent volunteers are needed again on Thursday, March 12, 2020 to help us provide lunch to our teachers and staff on the early release day. Last week concluded our winter sports season however there will be one more chance to see our basketball teams in action. We have been working hard to generate funds to install a full-sized basketball court on our campus for students and community members. We will host a varsity ladies versus men's game on Friday at 1:30 pm to raise funds for this effort. Admission will be $2.00 and all are welcome to attend.
Congratulations to our Battle of the Books team for finishing their competition in 4th place on Wednesday. Congratulations also to our Skills USA students who attended the East Regional rally at Wayne Community College on Friday. All 10 of our students placed in their respective competition which was the first time in SBHS history that all students earned a medal.
Spring sports kick off this week with 19 different games and matches. Be sure to view our schedule this week of tennis, track, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball and baseball games. There is truly something for everyone at Swansboro High and we encourage you to come out to support our student atheltes.
