Who's Who at CRHS: Meet Loyce Lackey

I teach Communication Applications & Read 180 at CRHS. I came into education after being in the insurance industry for some time. After deciding to go back to college to finish my degree, I started substituting and fell in love with education. I love learning along with the students I mentor. I want to be remembered as a positive influence in their continued learning for the rest of their lives.

I went to both Pan American University (UTPA) in Edinburg, Texas and the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) in Arlington, Texas.

I have lived in Texas since the age of five. Growing up in the Rio Grande Valley, I miss having two juice orange trees, one navel orange tree, one grapefruit tree, one peach tree, one pomegranate tree, and blackberry bushes in my back yard. I also miss living a little over an hour from South Padre Island. My husband and I have been married for twenty six mostly great years. We lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for over twenty of those years and still keep in touch with many friends and former students from that area of Texas. This year is my fourth year to be teaching at Cedar Ridge High School.

Reading and spending time with family and friends are my two best ways of spending what spare time I have available to me. Traveling, four wheeling, camping, eating, watching sun sets, storms, watching movies and certain television shows, and other fun things are next on the list.
