We will be administering the state required achievement tests on March 13th–24th. These exams are measuring their aptitude of the Common Core State Standards through the assessment called Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will be tested in reading and math.

The results of these assessments will be reported on the Illinois School Report Card in the fall. You will receive information about your child’s individual performance on the state tests he or she takes also in the fall. These results assist us in action planning for our academic goals at each grade level.

You can help your child do the best on his or her test by:

• Having your child at school every day and on time during the testing window
• Making sure your child goes to bed early the nights before testing
• Providing breakfast at home or making sure they eat breakfast at school
• Letting your child know that you have confidence in his or her ability to do his or her best
• Making sure your child brings their fully charged iPAD everyday

Estaremos administrando las evaluaciones requeridas del estado de logros del 13 al 24 de marzo. Estos exámenes están midiendo su aptitud de los Estándares Estatales Comunes a través de la evaluación llamada Alianza para evaluación de la preparación de Illinois. Estudiantes en grados de 3, 4, y 5 se pondrán a prueba en lectura y matemáticas.

Los resultados de estas evaluaciones serán reportados en el Reporte de las Escuelas de Illinois en el otoño. También en el otoño usted recibirá información sobre el rendimiento individual de su hijo en las pruebas estatales que él o ella tomara. In March, our 3rd through 5th grade students will be taking the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) test. This assessment will last 6 days over the course of two weeks. All of our students have been working hard this year to prepare for these tests and show what they have learned. We would love to start our testing window with some positivity right from home! We are asking all families of 3rd-5th grade students to provide a quick note of love, good luck and/or encouragement that will be delivered to each student as we begin testing.

We are offering TWO options to provide you with a note of positivity:

1. The first is a handwritten note or card. This can be brought to the office anytime before March 10. Please make sure the students’ name and grade is on the note.
2. You can also submit your positivity digitally using this Google form link. We will print the notes and make sure your child(ren) receives them.

En marzo, nuestros estudiantes de 3ro a 5to grado tomaran el examen de Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). Este examen durara 6 días en el transcurso de dos semanas. In honor of Women's History Month, our students will be learning about influential women throughout the month of March. Every morning, we will be highlighting an influential woman over the announcements while students complete an extension activity in their classroom. Please see the attached calendar of the individuals we will be learning about.

Sharonda Dawson led a school wide zoom assembly this past Friday. Their presentation was focussed on the culture of West Africa – the region from which the vast majority of African Americans originate from. She gave our students an inclusive perception of Black history and its legacy of greatness.
