Early Life
Roald Dahl was born Sept 13, 1916. He had four sisters and one brother. He attended Llandlaff Cathedral School in 1923 and St Peters school two years later. After finishing school Roald Dahl worked for Shell Oil and joined the air force.
Later Life
It wasn't until 1942 that Roald Dahl completed his first paid piece of writing. About ten years later he married the actress Patricia Neal. In 1957 Roald Dahl's first daughter Tessa was born. He later had three more daughters and a son. Roald Dahl died in November 1990.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Roald Dahl has written dozens of books. One of the best known of these books is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a children's book written in 1964. This book tells the story of Charlie Bucket. One day Charlie buys a chocolate bar and opens it to find a golden ticket hidden inside, a ticket to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Throughout the tour, Charlie's fellow winners find that they've bitten off more than they can chew. This book is full of magic and humor, like many of the other books by Roald Dahl.
