College and Career Week!- College and Career Week is scheduled for October 12th-16th. This year’s theme is “Thank you Helpers.” The students and staff at Holmsley will honor our Essential Workers. Students and Staff will make notes and cards to be delivered to our local essential workers. Students will also have an opportunity to take virtual college tours and make college banners during the week.
On Wednesday, October 7th students and staff will wear a college T-shirt of their choice. Parents please support college and career day each 1st Wednesday of the month, by encouraging your child to wear the college t-shirt of their choice.
On Friday, October 30th - Students may dress like the career they would like to have when they grow up. NO COSTUMES, PLEASE!
October is Bully Prevention Month! - Holmsley’s theme is “All Are Welcome!” During the month of October, we will continue to focus on Holmsley being a “Bully-Free Zone” by making sure everyone feels Welcome and Respected at Holmsley. During the Building Better Relationships class time students will have the opportunity to discuss and commit to the steps they will take to help others to feel welcome and respected at Holmsley. The goal is for students to know that every step they take to make others feel welcome and respected can lead to a kinder Bully-Free Holmsley! Students individual steps will be highlighted on our “All Are Welcome” No Place for Hate bulletin board.
OCTOBER 21st NATIONAL UNITY DAY! Organizations all over the Nation will unite against Bullying and unite to show kindness and focus on bully prevention awareness activities. At Holmsley, students and staff will Wear Orange, to show we are united against bullying.
Gifted and Talented Screening Process
❖ The Fall screening process is intended for new registrants who are entering CFISD
from private, out-of-state, or home schools.
❖ GT testing is done in person. At this point, there is not a remote option.
❖ Students requesting screening from Texas public schools, including charter
schools, should be included in the mid-year screening process.
❖ Parents, counselors, teachers, or other interested parties may refer a student for
G/T testing at any time.

CURBSIDE MEALS FOR CONNECT STUDENTS
CURBSIDE CONNECT MEAL SERVICE PROCEDURES
Meals will be available for curbside pick-up every TUESDAY and THURSDAY from 4PM-6PM.
MEAL SERVICE WITH CHILDREN PRESENT
- Stay in line in your vehicle.
- Staff member will ask which kind of milk you prefer (White, Chocolate or Soy).
- The meals will be placed on a cart.
- You will get out of your vehicle to retrieve the meals from the cart or you may have your trunk open for the meals to be placed in the rear of your vehicle
- You will receive 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches on Tuesday (intended for Wednesday and Thursday meals); and 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches on Thursday (intended for Friday, Monday and Tuesday’s meals) for each child present.
- Please do not get out of line and walk up to receive your meals. You will be instructed to return to your vehicle and get in line.

- Stay in line in your vehicle.
- Please hold up each child’s school issued ID card(s). If you do not have a student ID, please keep your window up and hold up to your window one of the following documents for verification:
- Student School ID
- Student Birth Certificate
- Student Report Card or Confirmation of Student Registration

MESSAGE FROM THE NURSE
Parents must screen students daily (prior to entering a school bus or school) for the following signs and symptoms of COVID-19:
1.Are you experiencing any of the following in a way that is not normal to you?
• Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.00 F
• Loss of taste or smell
• Cough
• Difficulty breathing
• Shortness of breath
• Fatigue
• Headache
• Chills
• Sore throat
• Congestion or runny nose
• Shaking or exaggerated shivering
• Significant muscle pain or ache
• Diarrhea
• Nausea or vomiting
2. Have you had known close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19
within the last 14 days?
• Students must stay home if they answer “yes” to any of the above.
- Students may transition temporarily to the CFISD Connect remote learning option during this period with the ability to keep up with instruction and meet attendance requirements.
- Students who show symptoms of COVID-19 at school will be evaluated by the nurse. The nurse will determine whether that child can remain at school.
- Before a student may return to school, established criteria must be met as stated in the “Students Return to School Protocol”.
