ELA Lesson 1
GOAL: I can identify and use relative adverbs.

This week we will review adverbs and learn more about relative adverbs.

2. Then, practice identifying relative adverbs with the "IXL Use relative adverbs" link.

Our mentor sentence this week is from the book, Grace For President: "He had cleverly calculated that the boys held slightly more electoral votes than the girls."
- Watch the read aloud of Grace For President to try to find examples of adverbs and relative adverbs in the story.
- Label the parts of speech of the mentor sentence and send it to your teacher in the method he or she has chosen.
ELA Lesson 2
Goal: I can identify main idea and details using a persuasive prompt.

- Watch the YouTube video "Parents juggle pros and cons of kids' technology use"
Next...EXPLORE:
- Close read (or listen to) the articles below, titled "Cell Phone Revolution" and "Life With Computers"
- Think about the following comprehension questions:
-How have cell phones made it easier and faster for people to communicate?
-What negative effects do some people associate with cell phones?
-How has technology made people's lives better?
-What is the main idea of these passages? Give three supporting details to support that main idea.

- Send answers to these questions to your teacher in the method he/she has chosen. Be sure to use full sentences, and provide evidence from the text when necessary:

Goal: I can create an effective introduction to my persuasive writing piece.
First...LAUNCH:
- Watch the video to review using hooks in our writing.

- Watch, "Week 4 ELA Lesson 3 video" to watch a model for this week's writing prompt.
- Then, by using the information from our two texts this week (Life with Computers and Cell Phone Revolution), brainstorm at least two different hooks you could choose from to begin your writing on whether or not technology has been a tool for learners.

Using information from the texts this week, Life with Computers and Cell Phone Revolution, has technology been a help to humans or is it a hindrance?
- Write a paragraph to persuade your teacher why technology is a positive or negative tool for learners. Remember to use details from the texts to strengthen your argument.
- Highlight your hook in the paragraph.
- Submit your persuasive paragraph to your teacher in the method he or she has chosen.
MATH LESSON 1
GOAL: I can add and subtract angle measures in real world situations.
First...LAUNCH:
- Watch the video from the start until 6:41 to learn how to add and subtract angle measures in real world situations.
Next...EXPLORE:
Pause the above video at 6:41 and try to solve the “You Try” problem by yourself.
After you solve it, play the video to check your answer.
Last...LANDING:
- On the Week 4 Lesson 1 Real World Angle Problems sheet Solve Problems #6-10. Be sure to include an equation and an answer for the missing angle.
- After you complete the problems, submit your answers to your teacher in the method he/she has chosen.
Math Lesson 2
Goal: I can name and classify quadrilaterals based on sides and angles.
First...LAUNCH:
Students will watch the video “Math Expressions Grade 4 Unit 8 Lesson 8”.
During this video, students will learn the differences and similarities among the quadrilaterals.
The teacher will have students pause the video and practice identifying six quadrilaterals. Record these answers on a sheet of paper. (See within Explore section)
Next...EXPLORE:
Students will be asked to pause the video around 7:30.
You do not need to draw the shapes, just name the shapes using the attached PDF-Week 4 Lesson 2 Quadrilateral Descriptions if needed.
Complete the Khan academy practice, this will have you identifying shapes based on their properties.
Last...LANDING:
Complete six problems on the attached PDF-Week 4 Lesson 2 Landing Work.
You do not need to print the document, Just number a page 1-6 and answer the questions. Take a picture of your answers and send it to your teacher in the method he/she has chosen.
Math Lesson 3
GOAL: I can break apart quadrilaterals into right, acute, and obtuse triangles.

- Watch the Camp Quadrilaterals song from Number Rock to review types of quadrilaterals.
Next...EXPLORE:
- Watch Mrs. Ferguson explain how quadrilaterals can be cut with diagonal lines to form triangles.

- Complete #4 and #6 on the activity page below. Submit to your teacher through their chosen method.
Social Studies LESSON
GOAL: To learn about the effects of geography on life in the Southeast.
