The White House
When President John Adams and Abigail Adams moved into the White House in 1800, it wasn't totally finished. Then Thomas Jefferson moved into the White House in 1801, most of the outside structures were finished. All the other presidents that lived there ordered new things for the house. The president and his family live and work there. It is located in Washington D.C., on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave N.W.
Rooms in The White House
Some of The White House room names and colors are: The Red Room, The Green Room, and The Blue Room. Also there is an Oval Office. The Oval Office is where the president works. There is also a big swimming pool. Even one of the presidents dogs had puppies.
Cool facts about The White House
The White House got it's official name in 1902, when Theodor Roosevelt was president. Its landscape ground covers 18 acres and measures 170 ft. wide by 8 ft. deep and 58 ft. high. The house was burned by the British in the War of 1812. James Madison and his family was forced to leave the mansion. In order to cover the smoke stains, they had to repaint the house.
Other facts
The White House is open almost every day of the year for tours. Many visitors and tourists visit the palace it also has a library of 2,700 books.
