Message from Mr. McDermott
Wildcats,
Quarter 2 and Semester 1 are rapidly coming to an end. As a reminder, student GPAs are calculated using semester grades. For our freshman class you will have your first GPA calculation. Please remember that a 2.5 GPA is needed to be on-track and a 2.0 is the minimum GPA for athletics and graduation.
Thank you,
Mr. McDermott

EOS Survey
Dear parent / guardian,
As you know, Wesley Chapel High School is committed to fostering the highest-quality learning experience for its students. As one example of this commitment, the district has partnered with Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS), a non-profit education organization, to examine and develop the learning culture within our schools and to develop strategies to increase student participation in challenging high school coursework.
To support these goals, we will be encouraging students in grades 9 through 11, to participate in a brief survey sometime between November 7th through December 2nd. Survey questions will address students’ views on their coursework, their school experience, and the ways in which our school supports their educational goals. Results will only be used to inform and improve academic supports and advanced coursework placement for students.
For your security, all confidential records provided by the district are subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and to any state law student confidentiality provisions. EOS and Pasco County Schools will ensure that in the course of the work, confidential information of any individual student or parent will not be accessed by anyone other than district personnel and EOS personnel performing services for the district.
We foresee only positive benefits for your student(s) and are excited to gather data that will enable us to better prepare all students to succeed. It is the right of the parent and/or guardian to request to exempt their student from the EOS survey. At the beginning of the school year, parents provided their selection for EOS survey on the consent form located in the myStudent Parent Portal. Please review your selection and ensure it is correct, if it is incorrect, please make the changes necessary in the myStudent Parent Portal, at least three days prior to the beginning of the survey.
Journalism 1 Students Launch WCHS’s newspaper
Journalism 1 students at Wesley Chapel High School launch the first publication of their online newspaper, PawPrints on November 15th. Students will have access to computers as the APEX platform will be used for the curriculum. Students who participate in this program will have the opportunity to recover course credits needed for graduation. Yearbooks
We sold out early last year. The only way to guarantee you get a yearbook is to preorder it early in the school year. This period will end March 3rd. Parents, if you purchase through the Student Pay portal, PLEASE double check your student's account. If you are not sure, email me (Mrs. Ingram) and I can tell you. Last year we had a number of seniors who thought their parent paid for a book, but the parent had paid for something else, like senior fees. It's heartbreaking to tell these seniors that we do not have a book for them. Before preorders end, we will post a list of everyone who has ordered. Please encourage your students to check this list to avoid this situation. Yearbooks can be purchased through Walsworth's site or through Pasco's Student Pay portal. If you are looking to pay by cash or check, please contact me directly. Current cost is $85, which will increase to $90 starting on September 1st.
If you have any questions regarding school photos or yearbooks, please email me at pingram@pasco.k12.fl.us
