FHS Welcomes Ms. Lauren Wainscott to the Panther Family
New to FHS this year, Lauren Wainscott is from Lawrenceburg, KY and stills live there today with her mom, Angie, her sister Lola, and her dog, Gypsy. She graduated from Anderson County High School in 2016. FHS counselor, Jessica Harley, was her FACS teacher there and remained a mentor for her throughout her college years! Ms. Wainscott says, "She's the best!"
After graduating from high school, she attended Kentucky State University and majored in Child Development and Family Relations. She recently graduated in May (pandemic style of course, thanks COVID). She plans to begin graduate school in the spring, working to obtain her Master of Teaching with a concentration in Family and Consumer Science from Eastern Kentucky University.
While at KSU she was given the opportunity to work in amazing on campus program called the Promising Youth Center for Excellence. The program operates on several different federally funded grants to provide after-school mentoring services to at-risk minority youth in Frankfort. She says, "I loved every minute of working there!"
In her free time, she loves watching sports with her family (GO CATS) or simply spending time with them! She enjoys all types of music, but especially Tyler Childers. She says, "I LOVE iced coffee and the beach is my favorite place to be!"
Ms. Wainscott says, "At FHS this year, I will be spending most of my time assisting Mr. Peach and Coach O'Bryan with all the awesome work they do in PTA. I also am a RISE mentor for FHS sophomores and assist Mr. Hecker with Senior internship."
"I am so thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve the Frankfort community and build meaningful relationships with the students here at Frankfort High, even through all the challenges that COVID may bring us this year! I am SO excited to be a Panther!"
FISD is running on the Orange Plan

T-Mobile Hot Spots Need Restarting
For students who have an FISD T-Mobile Hotspot, the configuration change has been completed on the hotspot units.
Students need to power cycle the units to apply the update, the power button will need to be pressed until “Goodbye” appears on the screen. They can then power the units back on and resume as normal.
Instructions can be found HERE.
Parent Summit Tip of the Week
Within the next few weeks, students will all be having their first Projects and Math Units coming due for some classes. At this point, for the first time, they will have a grade for the class. Because this is the first time they are going through the Project cycle, it is a good time to be asking them these questions:
- How are you doing on your Checkpoints?
- If you have any red or yellow Checkpoints do you know what you need to do to correct them?
- When is your Project due?
- Do you know how to turn the Project in?
They should be able to answer those questions and if not, encourage them to reach out to the teacher via email or during their Google Meet for class. They are more than happy to help the students out!
Projects are graded on Cognitive Skills. Students can see their grades in the Progress tab as well as a breakdown by Cognitive Skill. Remember, our goal is growth. If that first project grade is lower than expected, that is okay, improvement going forward on the Cognitive Skills will raise a student's grade and the only one on their transcript is their Final Grade. They will have many opportunities before the end of the year to perform to the highest levels of their abilities when those Cognitive Skills are graded again.
Student ID's Ready for Pick-up
The Student ID has important information, including the color of the student's House (orange, blue, grey or black), student ID bar code and lunch number.
Students must be masked when entering the building.
