Oldham Observations
October 2021
Message from the Principal
The PTO did an amazing job coordinating the Boosterthon and modeling ALTRUISM. The event raised funds to improve our playground for all. But just as importantly, it allowed our students a chance to see folks giving to a cause and supporting a community. A special thanks to Jen Carey for taking the lead on this event. We appreciate the time and energy that went into making this event so successful.
In October we all took the pledge to be a Unified School District through a partnership with the Special Olympics. We talked about INCLUSION and what that means to our community. We had so much fun watching the "torch" arrive with fanfare of sirens and a strong sense of community. After we passed to torch, we all committed together to be inclusive and support all students each and every day. It was an amazing event that really shone a light on the true spirit of Norwood.
Finally, we have been talking a lot about EMPATHY as we learned about the first T in TROT, Think About Others. All members of the community have been celebrating examples of students thinking of others. We have been filling out "TROT Tells" when we see someone showing empathy. We have heard about students helping others when they are hurt or sad, students giving others a turn and asking others if they want to play, students helping when someone makes a mistake, and the list goes on and on. It has been wonderful to see all the positive examples every moment of every day and to find time to celebrate that positivity.
As always, thank you to every member of our community for supporting our students.
