Why was it challenged?
The Great Gatsby was challenged in 1987 due to the fact that they had bad language and sexual references. While they may have been challenged for the use of bad languages, they only mentioned these words just a few times throughout the entire book. Even the words that they used aren't close to what kids these days are saying around their friends.
