In2 Yoga Updates
September/October 2016
Turning Difficulty into Opportunity
Needless to say, this venture has had its challenges, and there have been times I've felt like a little kid in front of a Christmas tree surrounded by unwrapped gifts on December 1! With youthful anticipation, I started scheduling classes, meeting with new teachers, advertising our events.
And then, the setbacks happened.
The last several days have been a roller coaster of emotions for several of us. This morning, however, a dear friend posted a Wayne Dyer quote: "With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself, or treat what has happened as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow, or an obstacle to keep you from growing, You choose."
A gift?! Yes. Amy Ippoliti, in The Art and Business of Teaching Yoga, says, "Yoga is the process of skillfully turning challenges, failures, hurts, and mistakes into opportunities...The challenges I've lived through fuel my fire to teach others to apply yoga to their lives."
With time today to reflect on these quotes during my yoga practice, I was reminded that my passion isn't about opening a new space, it's really about teaching others. That is the gift I got to open today. What difficulty can you turn to opportunity?
Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding during this incredible transition.
To a lifetime of yoga!
