HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!

Thank you to all the families that joined us today for our January Flagpole and Lunar New Year celebration! We loved learning about the Lunar New Year history and traditions and celebrating our community. We have another special celebration as well...


CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEWLY NAMED TEACHER OF THE YEAR RECIPIENTS!

A special shout out to Mrs. Lorenz (3rd grade) and Mrs. Collins (kindergarten) for your outstanding instructional practices! Congratulations 2023 Teacher of the Year finalists!


Next Tuesday at the Governing Board meeting administration will also be accepting our A letter grade banner. We received this "A rating" in September as a result of our Spring 2022 state testing results. This is a celebration to our staff for their dedication to teaching at high levels, and for our students for engaging in content and learning each day!

LUNAR NEW YEAR FLAGPOLE CELEBRATION

Thank you Student Council, PTO parents and our TSMC families for helping prepare for our Lunar New Year celebration. Students, staff and families loved learning about the history behind the Lunar New Year, along with their Lunar New Year animal and character traits. EXTRACURRICULAR TAX CREDITS

Your school tax credit donations can provide DVUSD students with opportunities to participate in after school and summer programs, field trips, music and athletic programs or any other extracurricular activity.

The Arizona tax credit program (A.R.S. 43-1089.01) allows a tax credit of up to $200 for individuals and up to $400 for married couples, filing jointly, in support of extracurricular activities. The tax credit reduces your tax burden to the state of Arizona, dollar for dollar. For more information about the tax credit process, visit the DVUSD Tax Credit info page linked here.

Credit eligible fees paid and contributions made to a public school from January 1 through April 15 of a calendar year may be used as a tax credit on the prior year’s tax return. For example, qualifying contributions made to a public school January 1, 2023 to April 15, 2023 may be used as a tax credit on either your 2022 or 2023 Arizona income tax return.

5TH & 6TH GRADE BAND UPDATE

Mr. Ferralez, our new part-time band director, has enjoyed meeting all the 4th-6th grade students this week to share his musical background and plant the seed about band! He will continue to pop into 5th-6th grade classes throughout next week to recruit for band as well.


5th and 6th grade parents-- CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW if your child is interested and ready to join band! Our goal is begin our band rehearsal the week of January 30th.

APEX LEADERSHIP + FUNDRAISING COMING JANUARY 31!

This year's Apex Leadership Co fundraising will be focused on STEM integration, Campus Improvements (tech & primary playground materials/spaces) and social emotional resources (All Things EQ, positive behavior incentives, Student Council prizes, etc). We also have some fun student-assemblies and activities planned this semester which are funded by PTO as well!

They have a BRAND NEW OBSTACLE COURSE this year which will be available for ALL STUDENTS as our culminating fundraising event! This is our only MAJOR fundraiser of the year, and brings in over 80% of the funds PTO uses for family events, staff appreciation, and other campus activities.

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL REMINDERS

As a reminder, gates open at 8:30AM. School starts promptly at 8:45AM.


Also-- no students will be released after 3:15PM from the office. If you arrive to pick up your child early to avoid traffic lines you will have to wait until the Kinder release (3:20) or 1st-6th release (3:30) to get your child. This minimizes classroom disruptions and ensures students are completing their full day of learning.

The Deer Valley Unified School District Kindergarten registration for the 2023-2024 school is NOW OPEN! Register today to ensure your child has a seat in an #extraordinary DVUSD Kindergarten classroom. Students need to be 5 years old by August 31, 2023 to enter Kindergarten.To register your student, please visit: dvusd.org/enroll


Student Open Enrollment Applications for 2023-2024

DVUSD is continuing to accept student open enrollment applications for the 2023-2024 school year. Priority status is given to applications submitted this week; however, we will continue to review all applications submitted before and after this week. Parents are also welcome to submit applications for the current school year. Applications may be submitted by visiting openenrollment.dvusd.org.
