Note from Mrs. Bland
Happy Monday to everyone!
I have had some questions regarding live instruction. Live instruction for students in grades 1-8 is approximately 2.5 hours per day. “Live teaching” means the teacher is presenting a live lesson, not a recording, or is engaging with students via video or small groups. Kindergarten and early childhood live instruction will be approximately 75 minutes per day.
As we embark on our fourth full week, I am hoping that routines for the students school days are becoming more concrete for you. We are very aware of the task that parents have and are here to help in any way that we can. From Kindergarten to sixth grade, we are extremely proud of the students and how quickly they are learning the technology and doing their best work!
Wishing everyone a great week!
If you have any questions or need anything please do not hesitate to call or email.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Bland
Join us for spirit week and a Parade!
We are so excited to end the week with our Paddock Parade on September 17th from 4:00-5:30. Watch this video for more information.
We can't wait to see you!
Supply Pick-up Today!
Paddock will be having a curriculum pick-up day today which consists of providing your student with additional curriculum materials they will need to enhance the remote learning experience. The following is the schedule and directions for pick-up. I am asking for everyone to be patient on their pick-up day as we know that there may be a long line while waiting in your car. Please read below carefully and let me know if you have any questions.
ALL SRP STUDENTS WHO ARE VIRTUAL LEARNERS OR IN PERSON WILL COME TO SRP FOR MATERIALS.
Monday, September 14th 8:00 am-2:30 pm AND 5:30 pm-7:30 pm
To reduce the need for direct contact with our staff, parents will be asked to pull your car up to the front of the school (Door 1). A staff member will be there directing you. Please do not leave your vehicle, as we will be bringing supplies directly to your car. Please open your car window or trunk so that a staff member can place supplies in your car with minimal contact. To help us identify who you are during the drive-up times, please write your child’s last name and first name on a piece of paper along with the GRADE LEVEL and TEACHER. Place the sign on your passenger window/windshield. This will help us quickly identify the correct car to place supplies in.
Thank you for your partnership!
Technology Issues
As we embark on the virtual side of technology, we are all troubleshooting through issues as they arise. Here are some helpful tips that might be able to solve your issue. Please also know that if your childs screen is slow, frozen or tools are not working while they are in their meetings with the teacher, the home network speed and connection could be the issue. Try Reducing the computing requirements on the Chromebooks themselves. Capturing and displaying video is actually rather processor-intensive, disabling the camera will help free the resources on the Chromebook and smooth the connection so that the students can see and hear the teachers.
Improve the wifi connection. The camera will actually degrade the wireless signal on some devices (especially older ones). By disabling the camera when not needed, it will allow a stronger Wifi signal to be received.
Going to the districts troubleshooting website is a great place to start. https://www.ccsd15.net/Page/9811

Why did you become a teacher or why did you want to work in a school?
Ever since I was little, I knew that I wanted to become a teacher. Who would have thought that years down the road I would be a teacher at the elementary school that I went to. I want to thank all of my teachers who inspired me to become an educator. As I like to say, “Once a Paddock Panther, always a Paddock Panther.”
What inspires you?
What inspires me the most is knowing that every day I have a chance to make a difference.

Why did you become a teacher or why did you want to work in a school?
Growing up with a mom as a teacher, I was able to experience first hand how much she loved her job. When it was time to decide on a profession, there was no doubt in my mind I wanted to work with children and be a part of their educational journey!
What inspires you?
I thoroughly enjoy classroom conversations. I love when my students open my eyes to new things and have different perspectives. Every day is new when you teach!
What is your favorite quote?
Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart. -Winnie the Pooh
