BEARS! Be Empathetic, Accountable, Respectful, Safe
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT-SEPTEMBER 3, 5:30-7 PM
Please see an important letter from Mrs. Martin linked below. It will also be sent home in your child's Friday Folder.
Arrival, Dismissal, and Visitors
Arrival
Our school and office open starting at 7:30am each day. Once students arrive, they may enter through the front door and go directly to their classroom for breakfast and to start their morning learning routine. We will have staff outside starting at 7:30am each day to support the drop off car lane and bus arrival. Families who walk, need to drop and go by our front door. Please understand that this is for safety and security as well as allowing our classroom teachers to start instruction quickly.
Dismissal
School is dismissed at 2:45 PM.
Bus-all bus riders will be supervised by Bishop staff until they are on the school bus, parked on Galapego St.
Car Pick Up/Walkers-each grade level will line up in front of the school, by Mansfield Ave. Check out our painted sidewalk numbers to see where your child will line up. If you need to pick up your child and walk, please confirm with classroom teacher in the line up location. If you are going to use our drop off/pick up lane, please be patient as our staff will work together to get your child(ren) to your car. We ask all drivers to stay in their vehicle.
Champions-if your student is signed up for Champions, they will go directly to Room 15 after school.
Please notify the front office (303-761-1496) if you need to change how your student normally goes home from school. This will ensure we direct your student to the correct dismissal area after school.
Visitors
We welcome visitors and volunteers at our school. Each time you enter the school, you will need to check in at our main office. You will need to have a valid driver's license in order to get a visitor's pass. Visitors and volunteers in our classroom need to have prearranged with the classroom teacher. The best way to reach teacher's would be through email. All email addresses are available on our Bishop Website under the Staff Directory tab. If you would like to be a volunteer, please check in with our front office for a volunteer application.
Thank you for understanding our arrival and dismissal procedures. Our top priority is safety and to ensure a positive learning environment. All Bishop Staff wear orange or yellow vests for easy visibility each morning and afternoon. Please ask a staff member if you need assistance. Thank you again.
STANDARD RESPONSE PROTOCOL & DELAYED DISMISSAL INFORMATION
At Bishop, our staff have been trained in our Standard Response Protocols (SRP). Students have also been learning about our safety procedures for our school and classrooms. This week, we held our first evacuation and everyone did an amazing job! We encourage you to also review our Standard Response Protocols pictured above to understand more about our safety protocols.
We have also developed a delayed dismissal system in case of severe weather at dismissal. The following message will be sent to all families through email, phone, and text if we need to hold students. Please know that we may have to make a call very close to dismissal due to our quickly changing Colorado weather. Thank you for understanding.
Delayed Dismissal
If there is lightning or hazardous conditions outside, a delayed dismissal will be called. An email will be sent to all families regarding the following procedure:
Bus Riders: They will report to the library with classroom teacher or para and bus supervisors will monitor students. Once transportation approves departure, students will be escorted out to the bus.
Walkers/Car Lane: Students will report to the gym with classroom teacher or para and line up by grade level. (Same as outside). All car lane supervisors will bring students out to vehicles in car lane as cars arrive. Please be patient as this will take longer than our “normal” dismissal.
Parent/Guardian Pick Up: Parents/Guardians who would like to enter the school, will check in with our front office and provide a current driver’s license for approval. You will receive a Student Pick Up Ticket and then you may proceed to the gym and check out your child with a supervisor.BISHOP TICKET COUNTERS NEEDED

COUNSELING CORNER
Each month, I plan to highlight a different resource available in our community. This month, I am sharing information about Integrated Family Community Services (ICFS). They have a food bank, clothing assistance, bus tokens, assistance with utilities, and medical and prescription assistance. They can also assist with case management, or rent/mortgage expenses. Right now, they have back to school supplies, and they are able to supply baskets for the holidays. Current proof of address, income and a current photo ID must be provided at every visit. (You can review income eligibility requirements on the ICFS website.)
IFCS will provide resources at least once to anyone, and with a phone call ahead of time, they may be able to assist with documentation/birth certificates. IFCS is located at 3370 Irving Street, in Englewood. They can be reached by phone at (303) 789-0501. There is a wealth of information on their website: www.ifcs.org
If there are other resources that your family may need, or if you would like to talk with me about other supports that your child may need, please let me know!
