Principal’s Message
Dear Stonegate Elementary Caregivers and Families,
Valentine's Day is this Wednesday and we are excited to celebtrate Kindness week at Stonegate!
Here is Poem for Kindness Week:
In the playground where laughter sings,
Kindness blooms on soaring wings.
Among friends old and friends anew,
Inclusion paints a brighter view.
In games we play and tales we share,
All are welcome, all have care.
No one left out, no one alone,
Inclusion makes this place our own.
With smiles wide and hearts so true,
We embrace each shade and hue.
For differences enrich our day,
Inclusion lights our joyful way.
So let's reach out, extend a hand,
In this diverse and wondrous land.
For in kindness and inclusion's embrace,
We build a world of love and grace.
Stonegate Read-A-Thon Starts Monday, February 12
Our school Read-A-Thon begins on Monday, February 12, 2024 and runs through Monday, February 26. It is sure to be a fun and exciting event.
That's why we are encouraging everyone to activate their student's Read-A-Thon account as soon as possible. The instructions are straightforward, making it quick and hassle-free, and it should take less than 5 minutes of your time.
This account will serve as a hub for recording and monitoring your child's progress as a reader during the event, and for you to share their Read-A-Thon message with friends and family. Use the link below to activate your student's Reader account:
https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/323738363832/1

Girls on the Run
Dear Parents/Guardians,
"Girls on the Run (GOTR) is coming to Stonegate ES! GOTR is a physical activity-based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. The program teaches life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness
Starting the week of March 10, 2024, the team will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45-5:00. The program culminates in a celebratory 5K, at the Westfield Mall in Bethesda, at the end of the season! The standard program fee is $187.50 and includes 20 lessons/practices, a t-shirt, a water bottle, entry into the 5K, a 5K medal, and more.
The fee reduction approval process is included in the online program registration. Simply answer the financial aid questions during registration, and the computer will determine your eligibility and adjust the fee accordingly. Registration is now open at https://www.girlsontherunofmoco.org/
Importance of being on time
When students arrive after 9:00 a.m., they miss important announcements and moring time with their teacher.
Students should arrive at school before 8:55 am. This gives them time to get to their classrooms.
Students should be at their desk and ready to go when the bell rings at 9 am and the morning announcements begin.
Doors open at 8:40 am for students to begin arrival. We are working to ensure a safe and smooth start to the school day instead of a mad scramble through the parking lot and office. Thank you!

MCPS Withdrawal Policy for 2023- 2024 School Year
Starting October 2023, MCPS has lowered the threshold of consecutive days of unexcused absences from 15 to 10 days.
If a student is absent 10 consecutive days they will be withdrawn. MCPS will require schools to complete the following forms: MCPS Student Permanent Withdrawal, regardless of student age and the MCPS Educational Interview for Withdrawal Prevention. Then the forms will be filed in the student’s cumulative folder.
Your Remind Settings
Stonegate ES is communicating through Remind, which sends texts to parents. If you aren’t receiving the messages or you would like to add additional contacts, you can add or remove email addresses and phone numbers.
Adjust your account settings for Remind at www.remind.com.
Choose “Sign up” and enter your phone number. Your account as an MCPS parent will come up and will allow you to edit your communication settings.
Add a phone number for a caregiver:
Do you need an older sibling, a grandparent or other caregiver to receive text messages from the school? Add an additional phone to receive school wide Remind text messages by using that phone to text @436ch8 to the number 81010.
Clothing To Cash Recycling Program
Clothing to Cash® is a program that collects new and used clothing, shoes, sheets, towels, and all textiles and pays the school for every pound collected. As your child is outgrowing clothes, don’t throw those clothes away, give clothes a second life by donating them to Stonegate.
This recycling program is a win-win! It’s free and convenient for families and also serves as an ongoing fundraiser that serves our students and school community.
The program is operated entirely OUTSIDE and is located in the school parking lot, where students, parents, staff, and the community can drop off items throughout the year. They have state-of-the-art photo quantity sensors installed in each bin that report 3 times daily allowing the company to schedule service as needed. They empty the collection bin, weigh the contents to determine our school earnings, and pay our school each month. Every donation helps. If each family donates just one kitchen-size trash bag, we will earn $1000- $2000 yearly.
Stonegate families, relatives, neighbors, and staff are all encouraged to participate!
ParentVUE
ParentVue is a central online location for students and their parents, guardians, or other authorized adults to access MCPS student information. Parents/caregivers who do not have an account created will receive a letter from MCPS with instructions and access codes for activation.
Here is a ParentView quick guide and directions for activating your account. If you need an activation letter or assistance, please contact the office.
