COVID-19 STATUS
Navigating to a “New Normal”
Our Hendrick Scholars are experiencing various levels of change, such as moving out of dorms or transitioning to online learning. We remain fully committed to supporting our students during this time. To that end, we have moved to web-based communications, as our Hendrick Success Coaches stay in touch with and support our students. We also are hosting workshops for our students through Zoom and we are connecting students to community resources, as needed.

SUMMER STUDENT REVIEWS
Students met with the Student Success Committee, their coaches and degree path coordinators in June to review their spring semester. A comprehensive student needs assessment was performed to assess academic, coaching, tutoring, and financial needs.
Program participation, grades, degree plans, class selection, and work schedules are reviewed to determine program eligibility. Action plans and resources are offered to help the students succeed in the upcoming semester. The average GPA for Spring 2020 was NUMBER with many of the students achieving academic distinction. We are very proud of the students who have earned these distinctions.
Student Profile - UT Dallas Graduate - Lizeth Alvarez
My name is Lizeth Alvarez, I just graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies with Teacher Certification Early Childhood through 6th grade. This semester was the most exciting for me because I was graduating and couldn’t wait for my parents and family members to hear my name and see me walk across the stage to accept my diploma. Unfortunately because of the pandemic all commencements were postponed until the fall. I was still able to graduate and I am grateful for that! I have worked very hard to be where I am and can thank several people for their support, but the main people who have been by my side and helped me be able to attend my dream school is Hendrick.
Hendrick allowed me to go to the university without the worry of having to figure out how I was going to pay for school. I have had a great support system from them since the beginning of my journey in college. College can be scary when you’re on your own, but Hendrick made sure I never felt that way. I will always be grateful for the mentor they provided for me who has had the honor of seeing me grow as a person. I am a different person than I was from the beginning of my college journey. I am more strong, independent and goal bound. I will forever be thankful to them and will carry them in my heart forever! I hope to one day be able to pay it forward and help other people as well!
