Trussville City Schools (TCS) Board of Education President Kathy Brown led the annual evaluation of Dr. Neill, who is in her 9th year of serving as superintendent.
The Board evaluated Dr. Neill’s performance across the following six standards:
General Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
Personnel Administration
Financial Management
Chief Executive Officer
School/Community Relations
“Dr. Neill is to be commended for her leadership in preparing for and navigating our system’s response to the pandemic. Her reopening plan has been a model for other school systems and we have not only survived but thrived. Dr. Neill and her team have gone above and beyond to continue to educate all students at the highest standards while nurturing and addressing the needs of every student. Dr. Neill supports our employees to perform at their very best, despite these very challenging and unprecedented times,” President Brown said.
Dr. Neill’s leadership skills were also acknowledged by her peers as they nominated her for District V Superintendent of the Year, President Brown said.
“We are thankful to have Dr. Neill as our Superintendent and are confident in her ability to lead us through to the “new normal,” President Brown said.
Aside from noting school year challenges presented by COVID-19, the Board also highlighted Dr. Neill’s recent district achievements including reaccreditation, the groundbreaking for the new TCS Central Office, the honoring of Hewitt-Trussville High School with a National Blue Ribbon Award, approval of a tennis court project, and the continued financial strength of Trussville City Schools.
Dr. Neill thanked the Board members for her excellent evaluation.
“I greatly appreciate this evaluation by the Board and your positive comments. This Board has affirmed our collective success in the midst of countless challenges and disruptions to our norm. However, let me say that the rewards are plentiful,” Dr. Neill said. “Our employee commitment and dedication during this school year have been amplified and observed by the entire community. Trussville employees are extremely resilient and adaptable, and I appreciate that this Board supported our efforts for the benefit of our students.”
