DES Parents/Guardians
We hope this letter finds you well. It has been an exciting and productive first full week back at school, and we want to take a moment to update you on some of the highlights and upcoming events. We kicked off the school year with an exhilarating GoGreen BMX Anti- Bullying Assembly, inspiring our students with incredible BMX riders.
The open house for grades 1-4 provided a wonderful opportunity for you to meet the teachers, see the classrooms, and gain insight into the upcoming curriculum. Your involvement is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to a strong partnership in supporting your child's education. Safety is a top priority, and this week we conducted a successful fire drill to ensure that all students and staff are well-prepared in case of an emergency.
Rest assured that your child's safety is of utmost importance to us. In these early days, our students have been enthusiastically learning and adapting to their new classroom routines, settling in, and engaging in their studies. Looking ahead, we have a lot more exciting activities and events planned throughout the school year. We will continue to keep you informed about important dates and developments.
Don't forget to regularly check our school's website and newsletters for updates. As always, we encourage open communication between parents and teachers. If you ever have questions, concerns, or simply want to discuss your child's progress, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. We are looking forward to a fantastic school year filled with growth, learning, and memorable experiences.
Warm regards,

GoGreen BMX Show
Our Golden Ticket grant program has been a great success since its inception in 2020! A total of 310 winning numbers have been claimed over the past three years, resulting in over $1.7 million in grant funding for Feinstein Leadership Schools and local non-profits! Here's hoping your school will be one of our lucky winners this year and share in the excitement of a winning Golden Ticket!
Good luck to ALL our Leadership Schools!

Student Spotlight
3rd graders in Mrs. Della Villa’s class read “Junkyard Wonders” by Patricia Polacco this week and really made a connection! Students brought in “junk” from home and created their own Wonders together with their tribes! They worked on comprehension skills, inclusivity and working together sharing ideas!
Students also had costume day for reaching their classroom Bird Bucks goal!
Please see required documentation for children entering kindergarten, 4th grade, and any child taking medication during school hours. Please send in the required documentation if you have not already done so. Forms can be sent in with your child or faxed to (508) 669 4248. Please call the school nurse at (508) 4247 x1103 if you need any paperwork or have any questions. Thank you!
Physical Examinations- Kindergarten and 4th grade
Each child needs to present to the school nurse documentation of an updated physical examination prior to entry into kindergarten and upon entering the 4th grade.
Lead Poisoning Screening- Kindergarten only
Each child must present documentation of lead poisoning screening and lead level results upon entry to kindergarten.
Vision Screening – Kindergarten only
Vision screening should be completed by the student's primary care provider upon entry to kindergarten (within the previous 12 months), or within 30 days of the start of the school year. Documentation that kindergarteners have passed acuity and stereopsis screenings is required.
Immunizations
State regulations require each child to meet grade entry immunization requirements. An immunization record will be maintained in each student’s medical file. If a guardian wishes to decline immunizations due to religious or medical reasons, a written waiver is required to be on file.
Medication Administration
When a child requires short-term or long-term medication during the school day, parents are asked to contact the school nurse and provide:
(a) Physician's order
(b) Parental consent
(c) Medication (30 day supply) in prescription bottle
This included prescription and over the counter medication. Parental consent and physician order forms must be renewed every school year.
Spare Clothing Request:
Accidents Happen! In addition to bathroom accidents, nose bleeds, lunch spills, art class mishaps, and recess falls may require clothing changes. It is advised that all children have a spare set of clothing at school. This includes a shirt, pants, underpants, and socks. In the event that your child needs a clothing change, we can quickly assist them into clean, dry clothing and have them return to class with little time away from learning. All clothing can be placed in a ZipLock bag labeled with your child’s name. All
spare clothing will be stored in a safe location in the classroom and returned at the end of the year.
