Wrapping Up Semester 1
Last week we spent time reconnecting with your awesome kiddos and reviewing expectations. This week we are diving into assessments as we begin to wrap up the first semester - can you believe we are almost halfway through the school year? Completing accurate assessments in CDL can be challenging, and many of our staff will be assessing your child/children in a small group or 1-1 setting. We need your help with this process!
- Please make sure you are reading updates from your child/children's teacher and checking in on their google classrooms so you can support them in showing up for these appointments.
- Schedules may be adjusted in order to make this all work - double check google classrooms for updates
- Review your child's work page (see pictures below) to ensure missing work is turned in and completed and review scores.
- Students can turn in late work and redo assignments for higher scores.
- Please step away and let your child show what they know. We tell our students it's ok to not know an answer - it means we need to do more teaching.
If you are unsure, please reach out directly to your child's teacher - we are here to help!
Asynchronous Work Counts!
Asynchronous work in google classroom and in our Wonders/Freckle platform provides our students with much need practice with content. Some of this practice is learning to apply new learning in different ways and some builds fluency and automaticity - the foundation for future learning. Each day there is a math and language arts assignment posted that students need to work on in addition to an integrated or writing assignment. Choice boards provide additional opportunities but are not required unless it is Wednesday. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you are unclear on asynchronous work requirements and work with your child on a good schedule for completing this work.
