Mission Statement

St. Joseph Academy, a Christ-centered Catholic community, rooted in faith, knowledge and values, inspires students to live the gospel message in school, the community, and the world and to achieve academic excellence through relevant and challenging curriculum.

Wearing Pink for Breast Cancer

Tomorrow, Friday, October 25, students are invited to donate $1 and wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. Funds raised from this dress down day will go to the John Paul II Medical Research Institute.

Halloween Dance

The middle school Halloween Dance is tomorrow, Friday, October 25 from 7pm-10pm in the dining hall. The cost of the dance is $5 per student. Students may wear their Halloween costume to the dance. However, students are not permitted to wear a mask or bring any type of weapon as an accessory (including fake swords, fake guns, fake knives, etc.) Students should be dropped off after 6:55pm at the gate along Frank Lloyd Wright Way. Parents are asked to be pick up students no later than 10pm from the same gate.

An off duty police officer has been hired to help ensure the safety and security of our students during the dance. We are still looking for parents to sponsor the police officer. Please consider sponsoring the police officer for one hour. The cost per hour is $31. Call the office or email Mrs. Haas at thaas@sjalakeland.org if you are interested in sponsoring the police officer for one hour.

Halloween

All students are invited to dress in costumes on Halloween and trick or treat throughout the school. Costumes should not hinder a student from participating in their academic classes. Students may not bring any accessories to their costume, including masks, toy weapons, etc. Finally, costumes must meet dress down day code and should be tasteful and non offensive.

VPK students may come to school in costume and will trick or treat in the morning. If students are staying for aftercare, they may bring a change of clothes to change into for rest time.

Kindergarten and Grades 1 - 4: Students may come to school in costume and will trick or treat beginning at 2pm.

Grades 5-8: Students should come in school in school uniform for the field trip and bring their costume with them. Students will change into their costume in the afternoon. They will trick or treat at 2:30pm.

All Saints Day Mass

SJA students will attend mass next week on Friday, November 1, All Saints Day! We look forward to our fourth graders leading us in our celebration of All Saints Day. We will also recognize Soaring Falcons after mass. Students should come prepared for mass on Friday next week, NOT on Wednesday. All are welcome to join us!

End of First Trimester

The last day of the first trimester is Friday, November 8th. Students have just two weeks left to bring up their class average. It is critical that students submit all missing work, etc. by this deadline. Report cards will be emailed to parents on Friday, November 15th. We will celebrate our honor students after mass on Wednesday, November 20th.

Poinsettia Sales

We are currently accepting orders for poinsettias for the upcoming Christmas holiday. Our seventh grade parents are selling poinsettias as a fundraiser that will benefit the eighth grade graduation banquet and special events. Poinsettias are $6 each or 6 for $30. The deadline to order is October 28th. Poinsettias will be delivered the week of December 10th. Order forms were sent home in last week's white envelopes and can be found at the link below or in the school office. Be sure to order your poinsettia by October 28th.

Throwback TShirts

SJA Throwback T-Shirts are now on sale for $15. Students may wear the throwback shirts on Friday with uniform bottoms. Orders are being accepted in the school office until Friday, November 1. We will only be taking orders one time this year, and the deadline is November 1st. Don't delay; order your shirt today! Order forms were sent home in last week's white envelope. Additional forms can be found by clicking on the link below or in the school office.

Save the Date - Veterans Day

St. Joseph Academy will host a special tribute for our Veterans on Monday, November 11, 2019, Veterans Day, at 2:15pm in our school chapel. We invite all veterans to attend this special ceremony. If able, veterans are encouraged to wear service uniforms or medals.

Morning Prayer

We have tweaked our morning procedures for homeroom and morning prayer. As students leave carline, they go directly to their homeroom rather than going to the Dining Hall. During homeroom, students get unpacked, prepare for the day, and begin some morning bellringer review work. At 7:55am, we have morning prayer in our beautiful courtyard. You can help your student prepare for a successful day of learning by ensuring that he/she arrives before 7:50am daily. This prompt arrival allows students to get settled before prayer so that they are ready to start with first period promptly after morning prayer. Morning prayer in the courtyard is beautiful; we invite you to join us!
