Coronavirus Update
A Message from Mrs. Akers
Redhawk Families,
I hope you are all doing well. We continue to miss seeing our Rennell Redhawks everyday! Please take the time to watch Dr. Henry's video that was emailed to our community on Friday - it is included below. I also urge you to continue to regularly check the district website for updates on this situation and how it impacts our school community. A picture is posted below of where to look on the district website for updates - and the link is below that for your convenience.
Homeroom teachers will be calling you this week to check in with your family. If you receive a call from an unfamiliar number, please answer since it could be your child's teacher. Many will be using Google phone numbers. You will also continue to receive weekly updates from your child's teacher. Although the district is open, all buildings are closed. Teachers will be available from home 9 am-2 pm Monday through Friday.
Beginning Monday, March 23, you will be able to access our online curriculum resources. The official district curriculum will be found on the district website under the “Learning at Home” icon (www.cfisd.net). You will be able to communicate with teachers if you need support with these resources.
Our elementary Learning at Home curriculum was developed by our elementary coordinators and will be supported in weeks to come by our elementary curriculum teams, so we will continue to follow our district scope and sequence for all grade levels.
The district is strongly encouraging students and parents to participate in the district curriculum to continue student learning. Students will have opportunities to engage in many online learning platforms and programs that track participation and data, but no grades will be given.
Each grade level site in the Learning at Home platform is full of resources for each content area. Accommodations and supports for students needing specialized instruction will be a part of these resources as well.
For students who do not have internet access, hard copies of the lessons will be distributed at the food distribution sites. Our curriculum coordinators and curriculum coaches are focused on writing curriculum for the hard copy packets as well as the online curriculum, all with added supports, accommodations and extensions for our students.
Teachers will also be viewing these resources for the first time on Monday, so please know that this is an adjustment for everyone. We will all be working differently and learning differently; however, we will all work together to help our students be successful!
