Art to Remember
Next week Students will be bringing home Art to Remember order forms.
Our school is participating in a fundraiser with Art to Remember that gives you the opportunity to purchase keepsake items customized with your child’s artwork. Not only do the products make great gifts for friends and family members, but every order supports our school! You can order online or with the personalized order form. Online you will need your child's code from their personalized order form. What I have really enjoyed by ordering online is that I can also order my child's artwork from past years.

Six Flags Reading Program
As before:
- Students need to read six hours in order to earn a free ticket.
- A teacher will need to have 8 students earn tickets in order to receive a free ticket herself.
- The program runs from November to February.
- These tickets are only valid at the St. Louis theme park.
Changes:
- When the students have met their goal, parents will go online to record the information. They no longer need to return tickets to school.
- Students can earn bonus awards by reading extra minutes to earn discounts on additional tickets for family members. Either they haven't set what those goals are yet or I have yet to find that information.

We are in need
Blair Oaks will be offering a free screenings for 3 and 4 Years Old - Preschool-aged children (not entering kindergarten) at the Elementary building on November 16, 2019. Kids Sight will be providing vision screenings, the school nurse will administer health and hearing screenings, and parent educators along with kindergarten teachers will administer the Dial-4 Developmental Screening. The screenings provide parents with information that will further support their child's learning. To schedule a free screening click here.
Parents As Teachers is a free, voluntary program designed to help parents give their children (prenatal through kindergarten entry) the best possible start in life. The program is built on the philosophies that babies are born to learn and that parents are their children's first and most influential teachers. The program offers personal visits by parent educators, group meetings and health and developmental screenings.
For more information about the screenings or Parents As Teachers, call Shauna Kerperin (573)619-4192 or email skerperin@blairoaks.org
Change Bandit
Our second quarter project is a partnership with the University of Missouri Children's Hospital called Change Bandit. The concept is simple: gather up loose change and make a big difference in the lives of children who come to Children's Hospital every day. We encourage you to ask family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers to donate their loose change to the fundraising effort.
We will have activities throughout 2nd quarter such as hat days and rock-paper-scissors tournaments to help raise money for this cause. More information will go home at a later date.
