Who's your school counselor
upcoming groups and exciting opportunties
Dear Parents/ Guardians:
My name is Mrs. Cocklin and I am the school counselor at Eastfield Global Magnet School..
The counseling program offers many services for you and your child. Services include classroom guidance lessons, individual counseling, and small groups.
Small groups offer students the opportunity to share experiences with others, have support, and learn from students who are dealing with similar issues. We are also teaming up with Rhonda Robbins and Leroy from McDowell County Children's Advocacy Center.
All students can learn from counseling activities and can benefit from active participation. I am available for consultation or individual appointments to discuss your child’s needs or concerns. I look forward to working with your child this year. Feel free to contact me anytime you need a helping hand! I am available on class dojo, email, or you may call the school and leave a message. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me!!!
Thank you!
Mrs. Cocklin

If you would not like your child to be involved in a small group with myself, SRO Officer Hensley, or Mrs. Rhonda, please let me know of your concerns. In addition, I will communicate through dojo if your child is chosen for a small group. We look forward to working with your child this year!!!
Exciting opportunties
This year we are teaming up with Rhonda Robbins and her therapy dog Leroy. She is going to be helping with some exciting groups!
Paws and Read with Leroy.
Students will get an opportunity this year to take a PAWS and come read with Leroy. Though the children believe they are teaching dogs to read, in fact, with the dog as a comfortable, attentive audience, they are actually teaching themselves. As far as the child is concerned, however, reading is about the dog, not about the child. No pressure. No embarrassment. No humiliation.
Small Groups
Rhonda will be co-leading small groups with me this year. In addition, SRO Officer Hensley will be mentoring small groups as well.
Group topics will include:
Friendship
Conflict Resolution
Anger Management
Social Skills
Feelings
Leaders in training
Mindfulness
Lunch with leaders
Available for students in 3rd - 5th grade
The Lunch with Leaders Program is designed to offer our students a chance to interact with leaders in the community that come from various careers, backgrounds and interests. Your child will be paired with a leader in the community and have lunch with that leader among other students
Leaders may include: police officers, deputies, ems, wildlife, City of Marion employees, realtors, school board members, representatives from the county office, etc…..
