Fall 2021: Following the state’s guidance
Dear Mounds View Public Schools community,
At a press conference this week, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) released recommendations for schools in preparation for the 2021-22 school year. Minnesota is recommending -- not requiring -- that all occupants inside public school buildings wear masks this fall regardless of their vaccination status. The MDH has developed this summary, highlighting the changes from the summer guidance to the fall guidance in the effort to combat the spread of COVID-19.
In support of this guidance for fall, Mounds View Public Schools will also strongly recommend, but not require, that all students, staff and visitors wear masks indoors this fall, regardless of their vaccination status. In doing so, please know that we will continue to create an environment that supports the personal masking decisions of all students, families and staff.
As we’ve learned over the past 18 months, guidance can change quickly depending on the spread of COVID-19 and our local conditions. This decision reflects our current intentions, but it is subject to change as future guidance or conditions may change.
Wearing a mask is one of several effective tools we have to fight COVID-19 transmission. Please look for more school-specific information in the weeks ahead sharing how our schools will continue their comprehensive efforts to provide a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff. Our website, moundsviewschools.org/covidresources, will also continue to share our latest updates.
With a month to go before school starts, we hope everyone can enjoy these last weeks of a healthy and safe summer.
In partnership,
