A Note from the International Week Committee
Hello Hosmer Families,
We hope you are having a wonderful week! Next week, is Hosmer International Week and we are excited to let you know about the many ways we will be celebrating!
All of the students will be reading Drawn Together by Minh Lê and contributing to a schoolwide collaborative art project. (A video of the author reading his book is included below.) During their art class, each student will design a five-inch square that represents them. The square they create can represent their culture or their family. To make this project meaningful and successful, we need your help.
Over the next few days, please look at the examples below created by our art teacher, Ms. Kim, and talk with your child about what they might want to draw. To help you assist your child, they will bring home a five-inch square on Friday that they can use to draft their square. If possible, they should bring this square to school with them when they have art class.
Read more below about how you can help us learn about the many cultures represented in our school and to learn about some of the fun enrichment opportunities that will be taking place!
Thank you for your help!

Do You Want to Share Your Culture?
We are looking for parents or family members who might be interested in zooming in with classes or grade levels to do any of the following:
- Lead students in a craft or activity that is part of your culture (creating masks for Carnival, learning a cultural dance, etc)
- Read a story in another language or teach students words/phrases
- Teach students something about your culture that is meaningful to you
Please contact your child's teacher directly if you would like to help out!
