THE SUN
information on the sun with Gregory McLean
sunspots
sunspots are the areas of the sun that are cooler than the area around it.
layers of the sun
- core: the inner most layer generated by thermonuclear reactions making extreme temperatures.
- radiative zone: the 5th layer of the sun where energy moves slowly outward-taking more than 170,000 yea to radiate through the layer.
- convective zone: the 4th layer of the sun were energy continues to move toward the surface through the convection currents of heated and cooled zones
- photosphere: the third layer of the sun visible thin layered surface that we can see.
- chromosphere: the second layer of the sun is the relatively thin layer of the sun and is sculpted by magnetic field lines and restrain the electrically charged solar plasma.
- corona: the outer most layer of the sun were the elements of the corona glow in the X-ray and extreme ultraviolet wave lengths. can also be seen during a total solar eclipse.
