Problems with pork
Should people consume pork?
Pork in generally is bad for your health.
Throughout generations this meat has been displayed as being useful to the body as protein, but it harms the body in disastrous ways. Feasting on pork can cause and increase in cancer, viruses, and implement problems towards the digestive system. In an article "Report finds 69% of pork contaminated with bacteria" by: Sarah LeTrent, CNN states, "An analysis in the January 2013 issue of consumer reports magazine revealed 69% of pork chops and ground pork that the organization sampled from around the U.S. tested positive for Yersinia enterocolitica, a bacteria that, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), can result in fever, abdominal pain and diarrhea." More than half the products of pork produced in the U.S. is contaminated with some type of bacterial infection making it unsafe for humans to consume. Another quote in the same article states "The frequent low-dose antibiotics in pork farming may be accelerating the growth of drug-resistant 'super bugs' that threaten human health...". A low production of antibiotics in pork are causing "super bugs" to grow, which are now one of the biggest health concerns of the century that can lead to sickness or even death. Pork overall is an unhealthy meat to consume
Waste from pork is affecting the environment.
Waste from pork products cause a bad effect on the environment. This meat people are consuming are intaking these harmful chemicals that are put inside pork, and pollutes the air. In an article "The price of protein: Review of land use and carbon footprints from the life cycle assessments of animal food products and their subtitles." by: Durk Nijdam, Geertruida Adrianna Rood, and Henk Westhoek, states "Methane emission from enteric fermentation were included in all studies on pork, milk and ruminant meat. Emissions from manure management (CH4 and N2O) were included in all LCA's on meat and milk." Throughout the production of how meat is processed, chemicals implemented in the meat are being released through the air causing people to breath in those harmful chemicals. Another fact from the same article states "Pork shows a medium carbon footprint. Most of the eight studies reportedly values of around 5 kg CO2-eq kg-1 meat, which are reportedly mostly due to the N2O emissions from feed production." Pork leaves behind many carbon trails due to the N2O implant from its production. This pumps over millions amounts of CO2. A finale quote from the same article states "the carbon footprints of organic pork is 20% higher than that of conventional pork. According to Williams et al. (2006) the carbon foot-print of organic pork is 12% lower." It doesn't matter what type of pork it is it will still emission some type of carbon trail towards the environment. Staying away from this product can lead to a better environment.
