A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR
This week at ECDC we met Larry the LIne in Art class, practiced pouring in Catechesis, made preparations for our Halloween festivities, and looked for signs of fall!
Request from teachers: To save time in our mornings, please send a water bottle with your child each day already filled with water. We also prefer the type of water bottles that have an easy to press button for popping the lid. This allows children to open the bottles independently and reduces the risk of contaminating the mouthpiece from touching.
Because flu symptoms and COVID symptoms can overlap, our attention to health and safety becomes even more important during the upcoming flu season. At ECDC we have decided that increasing the time frame for children to recover from illnesses will help reduce the spread of germs and viruses. For this reason, our usual 24-hour rule on returning to school after fever, vomiting, or diarrhea is being temporarily extended to 48 hours unless a doctor’s note is provided releasing the child from exclusion. The school does not require flu or COVID testing, however, parents may choose to obtain a test in the event of exposure. Please know that a negative COVID test does not always eliminate the requirement for quarantine. It is important to communicate with the administration about illnesses so we can provide you with accurate information and recommendations. So far this year we have been able to limit exposures and quarantines and I thank you for your efforts to keep this up!
Halloween is just around the corner! We will celebrate with a Halloween Festival at ECDC on October 29th and 30th. Children may wear free dress on both days (no costumes please). Due to COVID protocols, we are not allowing visitors at our ECDC festival. See below for information on Marquette's Trunk or Treat.
Thank you to those who have sent us updated immunizations. If your child has new immunization records, please forward them to sarah.bergner@marquetteschool.org.

Auction Update
The auction raises funds each year for new classroom materials, updates to facilities and technology, the addition of programs like Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and teacher professional development. This year's auction will help support renovations to our campus beginning with the Marquette playground. We are so grateful to our school families for supporting this important fundraiser. Although the auction will look somewhat different this year, there are still many wonderful items to purchase. Be sure to look for the one of a kind ECDC Garden Deva project, painted by all the ECDC children!
Employment Opportunities
Middle School Math
Marquette Catholic School is taking applications for a full-time Middle School (6th-8th Grade) Math Teacher. The position is available immediately, however, we are also accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year. Marquette’s Middle School math program offers class sizes that average fifteen students or less and employs two full-time math teachers. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree with certification for high school algebra. If you or someone you know is interested in joining our team, please submit all information to the principal at jay.luetkemeyer@marquetteschool.org and include a resume.
Trunk or Treat
Trunk or Treat is just a couple of days away and we are excited to see all of the kids in their costumes and enjoying the cool fall weather.
THANK YOU to the 11 families that have already volunteered to host trunks at this year’s event. We need 4 more hosts to make our candy trail complete. The MHSA will be providing 10 bags of candy to each host this year!! Please go to the link below and sign up to host!! And let us know if you need power.
A few things to keep in mind as we are doing everything possible to make sure families can stay safe at this year’s event:
- Cars will be spaced out in the ECDC parking lot and the candy trail will go in one direction
- Candy will be provided by the MHSA this year and trunk hosts will wear gloves when handing out candy
- All attendees And participants will be required to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth for the whole event
We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday the 25th from 1:30-3pm.
