JSMS JAM

JSMS Combined Holiday Concert

Good Afternoon All,

The annual performance by Sevier’s outstanding 7th and 8th grade musicians at Toy F. Reid is approaching and I wanted to take just a minute to provide you with a few initial details for planning purposes. It will work very similarly to previous years.

The concert for 5th graders and the Sevier student body will be on morning of Thursday, December 13th. The affected block of time will be around 8:30-10:30. The 8th graders should have no issue getting back to school before lunch. All performers will report to Eastman instead of Sevier on this day. The directors will keep attendance for the students in their group.

The rehearsal day for 7th and 8th grade band, chorus, and orchestra students is on Wednesday, December 12th. Band students will start their day at Eastman and arrive at school around 10:15 – I will keep their attendance. Orchestra students will depart from Sevier at 9:30 and should return to school around 12:45. Chorus students will depart from Sevier at 11:45 and return around 2:15. In addition to normal rehearsal day activities, the Jazz Band and 8th grade percussionists will be providing music for the ASC luncheon from roughly Noon-1:00pm.

Specific instructions/information about the logistics of the concert day will follow closer to that time. Student performers have already been instructed to stay current with their assignments in your classes, work ahead when possible, and make necessary arrangements to complete missed work.

On behalf of the performing arts faculty, I would like to thank all of the staff at Sevier for your continued support and flexibility in allowing us to produce this concert. Similar events are enjoyed by very few systems at the middle school level. It is a remarkable opportunity for all involved and one of the many time-honored traditions at Sevier that makes our school special.

Musically,

Hunter Mullins

Director of Bands

John Sevier Middle School

TRIBE CLASSIC!

The 6th Annual Tribe Classic Basketball game between Sevier and Robinson will be played on Monday, January 14 beginning about 9:30. More information will come as we get closer to the date but we will load buses as soon as possible that morning and head to DB. We will eat a bag lunch later that day once we return. Thank you for supporting this day as it is always one of the best days of the year.

WASHER AND DRYER

JSMS Families, This is a reminder to let you know that we have washer and dryer that is free for your use to wash clothes. Please contact Debbie Moore, JSMS Family Liaison, and we are happy to help you access our washer and dryer.

Week of the Warrior in Pictures:

Hey everyone,

Hunter Hilton down here in the Art Room again. I am sending out some more photos of student work. In this email, 7th grade students have just completed their "Fish on a Plaque" assignment, and these are some of the examples. These were made using masking tape, cardboard, acrylic paint, newspaper, and hot glue. I took more than one photo of some, just give you a better feel of how they really look. There are always many more great ones than I send out, and the 7th graders did awesome this time. As usual, the name of the student follows their piece! Let them know you saw their work and that they did a great job!

JSMS Jazz Band Marches in Kingsport Christmas Parade!
