Local Heros

Hats off to the Cafeteria Staff for their amazing work in preparing a fabulous holiday meal. I think we all agree they went above and beyond:-)

The Office Staff supported all of our events this week by decorating the cafeteria and assisting parents.

Thank you Sunshine Committee for the hot chocolate and warm drinks that hit the spot on Monday.

Gretchen, Terry and everyone who assists with textbook inventory. Parsons received a Platinum Award for exemplary text inventory.

We thank all of our veterans and those currently serving in the military for their loyalty and contributions to our country.

Georgia Milestone Assessment Release

We expect that the state will release the 2014-15 Georgia Milestone Assessment school and district level results on Monday, November 16th. In anticipation of this release, we're providing this letter you can use with your parents and community. We have not received the individual student score reports in the district, but we expect to receive them in the next few weeks. Student reports will initially be posted on the parent portal and then paper scores will be sent once they have been sorted based on current enrollment. The letter can be shared through your electronic newsletters and/or printed for individual students.

The state will release the following information for each school and district:

· number of students tested; mean scale score;

· percent of students in each of the four achievement levels (Beginning Learner, Developing Learner, Proficient Learner, Distinguished Learner);

· the percent of students who achieve Developing Learner and above; and

· the percent of students who achieve Proficient Learner and above.

Firemarshall

Thank you everyone for checking over your classrooms. Our overall inspection was good. Just a few reminders:

*Please do not use your classroom restrooms for storage

*No more than 50% of walls/doors may be covered

*Plugs must go directly into the wall or power strip. Please do not plug one power strip into another power strip.

7 Habits Followup

Thank you Cara and Mona for a great plan to kick off our "7 Habits for Happy Kids" program. We will continue to feature the 7 Habits on the morning news. Please begin posting your favorite leadership quote beside your classroom door.

State Survey for School Personnel

As part of our school climate rating, all staff members(teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, cafeteria and office staff) are asked to complete a brief survey. This will be part of our CCRPI score and is compared to parent and student ratings to determine our star rating. Our climate rating is then placed for public view on the GA Department of Education website. I appreciate and encourage your participation.

A folder has been created on the shared drive for pictures. Please share any great photos you have taken at school events (Thanksgiving Luncheon, Field Trips, etc.) Thanks!

International Night

International Night is one of our major school events. On that evening, we will be encouraging parents to complete surveys during International Night. If I could have a few volunteers to assist Landa that evening, it would be greatly appreciated. Please send me an email.
