COUNTDOWN TO SHOWTIME
Director's Notes
Producer's Corner by Lydia Fichtman
Patriot Players has been in production for Peter Pan since last spring. During the summer, Sarah Kinney, designed the poster that we are using this fall to advertise the show. It is amazing!!!
When school began, there was a rush to make our scarecrow, which is now on display in Peddlers Village. Whether we win or not, the scarecrow has drawn publicity for our troupe. People have already begun to ask questions and that is what we want. Our scarecrow was chosen to be in a local newspaper; a special shout out to Maggie McGonigal for sharing the picture!
Leah Radovich recently wrote the news release that will be sent out to all the local newspapers in October.
An email blast went out to 2500 school district employees this past Friday. We have a following at East and this year will be no different. The district support Patriot Players and the arts and we are so lucky to have them come to the shows.
Macy Mahar, the student producer, just finished uploading all the cast and crews information into excel files so that we can keep in touch with everyone. This week she will stuff envelopes for all the elementary schools sending our beautiful poster out for posting.
In addition, the principals of Warwick, Buckingham, Cold Spring, Bridge Valley and Gayman have given us permission to place the sandwich boards in front of their schools. I am asking parents to help out with this, as the sandwich boards are a bit heavy.
On October 1, postcards, advertising the show, will be mailed to all elementary school students in the CB East area.
However, even with all this publicity, we can do more. We have an additional 200 posters that need to be hung in the community. Please volunteer to take a few and place them on the community bulletin boards at churches, restaurants, doctor’s offices, the post office, etc.
Please help us fill the house! If you ever have any questions on how you can help or ideas on promoting the show please do not hesitate to contact me at lfichtma@cbsd.org
Director's Notes by Sasha Eisenberg
During our first full week of rehearsals, the cast has been getting to know one another as well as getting a better understanding of the show and characters. In addition to two exciting team building activities, the Pirates worked on character development, the Indians learned their first dance and Peter Pan, Wendy, Michael, John, Tinker Bell, Mr. Darling, Mrs. Darling, Liza and Nana, have been singing and blocking Act I. All cast members and their families are encouraged to check the production calendar regularly. Attendance is crucial to the success of the production! The calendar can be found on our webpage: www.cbsd.org/patriotplayers.
Communication is very important throughout the production. All absences require a note (letter or email) from parents. Early notice for trips or doctor appointments is greatly appreciated. Please note: missing two days of a dance rehearsal can result in the exclusion from the number. If a cast member misses a rehearsal, it is his or her responsibility to check in with the assistant director, Maggie McGonigal and the Dance Captains, Katie Cummings & Caroline Portner, to find out what was missed. PLEASE NOTE: ALL DRESS REHEARSALS & PERFORMANCES ARE MANDATORY.
In addition to our busy tech and rehearsal schedule, we have planned TWO exciting trips! Patriot Players and their families are invited to join our SPIRIT OF PHILADELPHIA PIRATE CRUISE on Sunday, October 5th, 10 am - 4 pm. The trip, including transportation, lunch and cruise, is only $40 per person. All forms are DUE this FRIDAY. Forms can be printed from our webpage. Our second trip is to NYC to see ALADDIN on Wednesday, October 29th! All permission forms have been collected, and we are excited for our largest NYC trip!!
Not only are the Patriot Players excited for a fantastic Fall season, our community is eagerly awaiting Peter Pan! Their ticket order forms are already coming in! Please place your ticket orders ASAP! We will fill all cast and crew orders first (until October 1st.) We do anticipate selling out early! Ticket order forms can be printed from our webpage.
I am looking forward to another busy week of building, singing, dancing and acting! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns at any time! I can be reached at patriot_players@cbsd.org.
