As we enter 2022 and the second half of the school year, please take a moment to read about what’s come this month for our Dragons and some wrap ups from December.
Gearing up for Semester Two
Students have received their second semester schedules and are adjusting to their new classes. We are looking forward to a lot of activities in 2022, including field trips, competitions, and more.
Math League
Math League registration begins this month for the district tournament which will take place on February 9th. Fifteen students will be selected to participate by invitation. Math teams are lead by Ms. Degusipe in 8th grade, Ms. Martz in 7th Grade, and Ms. Fernandez in 6th Grade. Check for information from your teacher if your student has been invited to Math League. Go Dragons!!
2022 Black History Brain Bowl
Congratulations to our Davidsen Black History Brain Bowl team:
Evangelina Bennett, Allie Lewis, Keira Collins, Jack Herman, and Camren Banks.
This year’s Black History Bowl will take place at Blake High School in February, and the team will meet each week before the competition to study and gain knowledge. We are so proud of our great team and wish them the best of luck in the contest!

Computer Technology: CAB and Coding Fundamentals
Congratulations to Ms. Moumne's Computer Technology students who have completed their ICT CyberSecurity Essentials Certificates. Over 50 CAB students earned their ICT Certificates in December.
Beginning in January, DIT students will test for their CIW ICT Social Media Strategist Industry Certification. Also in January, Coding Fundamentals begins. Through a partnership with Code.org, students will learn the basics of problem solving, HTML, and JavaScript. Students will be able to choose their own topic for their webpage and can share with family and friends.
Visual Arts
In Ms. Hall’s class, art students explored tempera paint and pastels while creating a final project on Henri Rousseau’s “The Sleeping Gypsy”. The group project involved the original image being divided into 4 pieces, with group members making decisions on how their composition would be handled collectively. While each piece was individually rendered, it may be displayed together as one image. In keeping with Rousseau’s background as an self- taught artist, students were given the opportunity to experiment with the media before being given a formal demonstration. This project highlights and celebrates the personal style of each student.
Ms. Smith's classes are also busy with several projects, many of which are now on display at various locations on campus.
Semester Make up Exams continue through January
Students who were absent for any of the semester exams in December will have make up exams throughout the month of January.
Some study tips for students:
Create time to study for each exam.
Find a quiet place to study with no distractions.
Ask for help if you need it-before the test
Go to bed early the night before each exam day
For exam days:
Eat breakfast (and lunch) each exam day.
Have supplies: Paper, pencils, pen, highlighter, calculator as needed.
Stay hydrated, bring a water bottle.
Be present for each exam every day.
