Thank you

Thank you for a great term, it has been extremely busy but rewarding. Over the term we have experienced Cross Country, BRLA, Life Ed Van, Christian Dance, Paul Litherland, Pasta Day, Mackillop House Day Mary MacKillop Mass, Sacramental Workshops, Choir and Dance Troupe, First Holy Communion and Confirmation, Family breakfast, Field Events Carnival, De Vialar House DayOpen Night, School Tours, Athletics Carnival, Missions Mass and Footy Colours Day.

We are so blessed to have a wonderful staff, students and community here at St Emilie's. We look forward to seeing everyone in Term 4, and we wish all families a safe and happy holiday.

Staff News

A very big congratulations to Mr Dan Naden who has accepted a position as Head of Year 7 at Kolbe Catholic College beginning in 2023. Whilst it is sad news for St Emilie’s that Mr Naden will be leaving after 10 years at our school, I am sure we all agree this a great career opportunity for Mr Naden and his family. We will have the opportunity to farewell Mr Naden at the end of the year.

Mrs Kristy Bull will be going on Maternity Leave (with her second child) at the end of Term 3. For the last two years Mrs Bull has been working in support and Pre-Primary for 1 to 2 days a week. We wish her, her husband Damon and daughter Lily all the best.

Mr Ben Hewitt, our Year Four Gold Teacher, and his fiance, Rebecca, get married in the upcoming holidays. We wish them all the best on their special day.

Public Holiday & Pupil Free Day

Tomorrow, Thursday, 22 September, will be a National Public Holiday to observe a national day of mourning in honour of the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Term 3 concluded today and Term 4 will begin on Monday 10th October.

P & F Colour Run

Sponsor forms for the P & F Colour Run on Friday 21st October were sent home yesterday. A copy of the sponsor sheet and a parent information sheet are below.

Please return the completed form and money collected to your child's class teacher in a sealed envelope labelled ‘Colour Run’ – Your Child's Name by Wednesday 19th October 2022. Thank you in advance for your support of St Emilie’s, we appreciate your generosity.

Families leaving next year

If your family is leaving our school community in 2023 you are asked to please let us know by emailing the Office and/or leadership as soon as possible. Many thanks, as this assists us to plan and offering places to new families on the waitlist. Please be reminded that unless we are given one full term's notice of an intention to leave St Emilie's, a family will be charged a full term's school fees.

Year 1 in 2023 Uniform

We encourage our PP families to begin the process of getting ready for our school uniform in 2023. The contact details and opening times for Image Embroidery are at the bottom of the Weekly Reminders.

Class Placement

Below is a link to a document that explains our position on class placement here at St Emilie's. Please read it carefully when you have a moment - we hope it brings further clarity to why we feel confident in our decision-making. In saying this, if you wish to make a request please place it in writing to the Principal at stemiliesadmin@cewa.edu.au by Friday 28th October.

Positive COVID Cases

If your child tests positive to COVID, please ensure that you enter the result on the CEWA portal and also on the Health Department.

P & F Volunteers

The P&F received an overwhelming response from families expressing their interest to help with school events. It certainly highlights the incredible community spirit we are blessed to have here at St. Emilie’s. A very heartfelt thank you. With any event, there are limited spaces for helpers. Please know though, that we appreciate your willingness and interest to help, the gift of your time, your support and contributions. We now have a handy volunteer roll and will call upon persons when and where there is a need. We appreciate your understanding.

Thank you to those parents who helped with the P&F stalls at the recent House Athletics Carnival and to those families that kindly donated gifts towards the raffle prizes.

For the upcoming Kids Colour Run, a member of the P&F Executive team will directly contact the parent helpers asked to assist on the day by Friday, 23rd September.

Volunteers are a valued part of the heart of our school community. Thank you once again for your expressions of interest.

P & F Fundraising

What are we fundraising for?

This year we are busily saving for the new Year 3-6 playground equipment.

In addition, P&F funds this year will be used to offset some of the cost of:

When an individual receives a COVID-19 positive result, the individual is deemed by WA Health unlikely to suffer from re-infection for a period of 4 weeks. Therefore, further Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) testing when subsequently unwell is not required during this time, as a COVID-19 positive result may be returned throughout this period while the initial virus is being shed.

However, where a person is unwell within their 4-week period and are showing symptoms of COVID-19, WA Health reiterate that the impacted person should remain home until symptoms subside, particularly where symptoms are respiratory in nature (e.g. productive cough).

All unwell COVID-19 symptomatic students should remain home and refrain from coming to school.
