ID Badges
ALL students must be wearing their ID and it should be visible at all times. Whether it be their school ID on a lanyard OR a temporary ID (sticker) badge, it MUST be worn.
If a student has lost their ID Badge, please replace it in the front office (it does cost money to replace an ID Badge).
If a student has forgotten their ID Badge, the consequence is last in line at lunch and no Snack Bar.
NEW
Students will be charged for an extensive number of temporary badges! Please be sure to use and wear your issued ID Badge.
Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones are SHUT DOWN and PUT AWAY from 7:30a - 2:20p
- Student are expected to follow EPS expectations for cell phone use.
- There is a progressive plan if students are using their cell phone during the school day.
- If cell phone usage becomes habitual, it can lead to a parent picking up their cell phone in the Front Office.
Science
Hello Thunderhawks!
This week we continued our unit on Matter and Molecular Motion. Next week, students will be taking a test on this topic. In the Week 3 at a Glance Module on Canvas, you can find the study guide already posted. We will work on the study guide in class on Wednesday the 7th, but students are welcome to begin working on it before then. The students also have access to all of our science notes in their Google Drive - if they just go to their drive and type in Science Journal, they should be able to pull up all of the notes we have been working on.
Students will have an opportunity to redo the test if they would like to improve their score, but they must fill out a Request to Redo Form and have it signed by a parent or guardian.

Geography
Hello families! We have officially entered our third full week here at Heartland Middle School. Students have dove headfirst into our Geography content, and us teachers are happy to see them continue to progress with the material. This week we will focus on the tools of Geography, specifically our weather and climate concepts. Grades are now accessible on Infinite Campus, and we try our best to keep them as updated as possible. Please reach out if you have questions/concerns and encourage students to advocate for themselves as well! We are always happy to help. Lastly, we will have our second notebook quiz this Friday!

Message from 6th Grade Principal
Thunderhawk Families
I cannot believe August has already come and gone. I hope all families enjoy the long weekend and are able to find time to relax and rest before we jump into a busy September.
Students will begin Hawk Hangout when they return on Wednesdays and Fridays. If they did not get the opportunity to sign up, they will be placed in a Hawk Hangout that still has openings.
6th graders will be taking the Cognitive Abilities Test (COGAT) next week through their Literacy class. Please refer to the letter from Ms. Edward’s for more information regarding this test.
Please check grades regularly and reach out to teachers with any questions or concerns.
Again, have a wonderful long weekend and we will see all Thunderhawks back on Wednesday!
