Principal's Post
Much appreciation to our students, staff, and community as we work to navigate through what is not only a local but national staffing shortage with the current stage of the pandemic. For this issue, I want to convey my appreciation of 2 things specifically:
- Our students, teachers, and staff want to come to school every day. They work hard to stay healthy to be here for one another. Regarding staff, the impact (knock on wood) thus far has been very manageable. Thanks to all for showing up each day you are able!
- Our students, teachers, and staff also continually keep the health and safety of others in mind. If they are COVID-19 symptomatic or just unwell in general, they do the right thing and take the time to get well before returning to school. Additionally, those who experience COVID-19 close contact have been very responsible with the temporary additional health and safety precautions asked of them.
We have faced many challenges during the past few years, but the Mill Creek Community's willingness to face them as a team allows us to overcome any challenge that comes our way - thank you!

From the Desk of Mr. Murtha
A new year has begun, and the traditional new year's resolution tends to come along with this new beginning. I usually, with mixed success, embark upon a new year's resolution. It often depends upon the level of support I am receiving for my resolution as to whether it succeeds. For instance, I find myself much more likely to follow through with my new year's resolution if it is shared with someone, such as my wife, in which case we can work to both motivate one another and hold one another accountable.
As I visited classrooms this past week, many were working on some school-based resolutions surrounding SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Based) goals, such as improving an academic skill, putting in more time for reading or practicing an instrument, having better time management, and more! As classes discussed SMART goals, teachers guided their students in crafting an individual goal that could truly be attained. Much like the success rate of my personal resolutions at home, whose odds improve if supported, these student-created goals have the backing of teachers and classmates, who will look to support one another in seeing those goals are reached.
Good luck to our students with their goals/resolutions (you can do it!), as well as to any Mill Creek community members who set their own personal goals/resolutions as we start 2022!
