Our first event is the 8th Grade Pregame Party, where we will celebrate Burleson High School’s Homecoming!!! While entry is free, we do sell t-shirts and concessions pre-sale! PACK teachers will begin collecting money from August 22nd- September 10th. Your student was provided with the form in PACK, but we have attached one just in case. Please email:

How do you connect with students? What are your favorite ways? Here are a few practicing educators who share some of their ideas. #ConnectB4Content Link to share: youtu.be/JT-DnOxqgMo

TREATMENT AGREEMENTS:
As you create your treatment agreements with your students, remember to refer back to the treatment agreement consistently. Don't make it "just a chart on the wall". You should refer back to it with your students weekly. Also, your treatment agreements must be used and modeled as you redirect student behavior.
REDIRECTING STUDENT BEHAVIOR
These questions help the student focus on the behavior, demonstrate that he/she knows what behavior is expected, own up to the fact that he/she is not doing what is expected, and determine what he/she should be doing instead. During the conversation, the teacher must use eye contact, an appropriate proximity, the student’s name, and use a low unemotional tone.

Student Permissions
Campuses must check permissions regularly so that any picture taken in the classroom and shared on social media is approved. PEIMS clerks know how to run the report to check permissions.
District must be marked “Yes” in order for pictures to be shared on social channels. Teachers should be prepared to identify students without approved permissions.
isits from employees at admin will occur regularly throughout the year. We don’t want permissions to be a disruption to the visit, so administrators will rely on the campuses to ensure they’re taking pictures with students who are approved, as they will not know.

Traffic Flow Concerns
Good afternoon,
We want to thank all Hughes family members who have worked with us through the new drop off and pick up process. We appreciate everyone's patience as we get through the first week of school.
Please note that we need everyone to adhere to the traffic flow map posted on the HMS website, as well as sent via the Parent newsletter, Twitter, and Facebook.
Here are several concerns:
*The front horseshoe drive is no longer a drop off/pick up zone. This area is only if you are needing to visit the front office.
*The parallel parking on Thomas is only for parking. Please do not use this area for dropping off students.
*Please do not stop on Thomas for your child to be dropped off.
*Please do not enter the south drive by the tennis courts. This area is for staff and buses only. The exception to this is for band student before 7:30.
*Please pull up all the way to the front of the drive when picking up or dropping off.
We ask for these traffic concerns to be fixed for the safety of our students, staff, and parents.
Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.
