Cameron Drama Update
Trimester 2 -- Lion King, Tableau, Monologues & More...
Welcome to Drama at Cameron!
I am Teri Shea, the Drama teacher at Cameron Middle School, and I love my job! I will be sending home these short newsletters a few times a trimester to share with my student's families what we do in Drama Class. I hope you enjoy and Happy New Year!
6th Grade Drama
6th Grade Drama students will be learning about Parts of the Stage, The Theater and Theater Etiquette, The Lion King on Broadway, Puppets and Puppetry. We have already begun the study of The Origins of Theater & started working on their 3-D Animal Masks.

7th Grade Drama
We will quickly study Dramatic Structure. Being able to deconstruct a story into it's smaller parts, is an important skill to have when we enter our Improvisation Unit where we will be building our own stories.
The Improvisation Unit connects Improvisation skills and Social Emotional Learning Competencies to help the students connect what they learn in Drama class to the rest of the world around them.

Social & Emotional Learning
8th Grade Drama
8th Grade Drama continues with self-exploration. Students are learning about the history of American Musical Theater, they will write and present a monologue based on the theme of the musical, "Spiderman: Turn off the Dark", rising above an obstacle in their life.
Then we will began our Theatrical Design Unit by reading the play and using the play as our starting point. Students will be learning about many aspects of Theatrical Design; Sets, Lights, Make-up, Costumes, Sound & Logo. They will present their final group designs to the class.
Stagecraft-- 8th Grade Edition!
Stage Craft has now joined together with an 8th grade Drama Class. We have already worked on stage lighting for Frozen Jr and helped Kyle Strike the set!
As we journey on through this Trimester we will be continuing with the hands on approach, but including Theatrical Design for the Drama students. I think it will be a rewarding class for everyone.
The New Drama Room
The Drama Room has been renovated this summer. Olaf & Mrs. Kidswater are waiting for you!
A comfortable space to learn, share & grow as students, performers & people.
New decorations that remind us of our past & help us plan for the future.
