District Attendance Policy
Below is a quick guide to the West Chester Area School District Attendance Policy.
1. When a student is absent, the student/family has 3 days upon return from absence to submit a Parent Note (PN) or Doctor Note (DN) to our attendance secretary.
2. Notes can be emailed to our attendance secretary, Jen Shannon, at jshannon@wcasd.net.
3. A phone call is not a sufficient note. Notes must be handwritten or submitted via email.
4. The student/family is allotted 10 Parent Notes (PN) and 5 Family Vacation (FV) days for the school year. Every absence after that will require a Doctor’s Note (DN) or the absence will remain unlawful.
5. If a student is absent for 5 consecutive days, a Doctor’s Note (DN) is required by the 6th day of absence, even if parent notes have not been exhausted.
6. At the 4th unlawful absence, a Student Attendance Improvement Plan (SAIP) meeting will be held by our caseworker.
Please use this link to read the WCASD Attendance Policy:
For any further questions regarding the attendance policy, please reach out to our caseworker, Erin Crystle, at ecrystle@wcasd.net or at (484) 266-2920.

GAME BUS UPDATE
With a continued shortage of bus drivers, Krapf is struggling to find drivers for sports & school runs. Drivers are doing double duty, which means many sports trips will have very early dismissals. On some longer routes, Krapf will be asking for noon departures which will require 11:40am dismissals from class. This impacts 7th grade lunches. We will work to coordinate with Aramark to have boxed lunches available if needed and some students will have to eat on the bus as they travel to away games.
Please use this link and see instructions if you prefer to drive your child to an away game rather than use the bus:
We understand that none of this is ideal and it is doubtful that much will change in the near future. We appreciate your understanding, flexibility and patience as we work to do our best for our student-athletes.

6th Grade Team Building Day
Dear 6th Grade Students and Parents/Guardians,
This Friday, September 23rd we will be having our annual 6th grade team building day here at school!!! We wanted to send a short note with some important information regarding the team building day!
In the morning we will be participating in curriculum based activities where A and B team students will be placed together in groups and go through a circuit of six different activities. 3rd, 4th, and 5th period will not be affected by the team building day. Students will still have their Day 1 Unified Arts classes as well as lunch. In the afternoon we will be outside doing team building activities followed by soft pretzels thanks to the generosity of our PTO. If your child has a food allergy and cannot have soft pretzels, please feel free to send in a snack with your child. Please dress for the weather – we will be outside all afternoon! Please bring a labeled water bottle. Make sure appropriate footwear is worn – NO FLIP FLOPS!! Thanks!
Sincerely,
The Sixth Grade Staff
