Cougar Courier
Greetings from Dr. Garcia!
November 16, 2019
We have seen an increase in scholars coming to school out of uniform. Please make sure that scholars are dressed appropriately for school. If you have questions about the dress code, please call the school office.
On Wednesday, November 20th, we will have an Open House for prospective scholars and their families. We will provide a brief overview of Clay International Academy, provide tours of the building, and will have student work on display. If you know families that are interested in finding out more about our school, please encourage them to attend on Wednesday. The Open House will begin at 6:00 pm. and will last until 7:30 pm. We will begin in the library.
Boy's basketball season has arrived and our varsity squad is 2-0. While we love having scholars at the games, it is the school's policy that scholars must have an adult with them at the game. Additionally, scholars cannot stay after school until the game because we do not have adult supervision. Thank you for your cooperation concerning this matter.
All South Bend Community schools will be close this Tuesday, November 19th. Here is a link to an article that appeared in the South Bend Tribune that provides information about what educators are advocating for: https://www.southbendtribune.com/news/opinion/viewpoint/viewpoint-bargaining-for-the-common-good-in-south-bend-schools/article_935054e2-826b-5335-a661-8d1d999f99de.html
On Monday, November 18th, order forms will go home for the CIA magnets. The magnets are a great opportunity to show your school spirit! Though the order forms will be in black and white, the magnets are in full color (as pictured in this newsletter). They make a great holiday gift for all CIA fans! Please return completed forms with payment to each student’s teacher by Monday, November 25th.
The last day to order CIA spirit wear is November 24th. Here is the link to order: https://ciawinter2019.itemorder.com/sale
Cindi Clawson will be here on Friday, November 22nd to read to our scholars in the morning. We are excited to have her at CIA!
The Courier will be transitioning to a bi-monthly newsletter in December. Thank you for your continued support for Clay International.
Blessings,
Dr. Garcia
