Doodling with a Purpose
Sketchnotes in the Classroom
World Sketchnote Day is TODAY! But you can "celebrate" ANY day! Here are some helpful resources. Give it a try!
Purposeful Doodling Improves Comprehension
Sketchnoting would pair perfectly with a brief lecture or podcast. Students could "doodle with a purpose" as they listen and process the information. As a review, students could go back through handwritten notes, creating visual representations of topics and concepts. There are resources below to get you started, and a quick Google search will provide much more. You may even want to begin by offering students visual structures to draw from, similar to providing outlines for learners.
Offering this to your students as one way to take notes allows them to have some choice in their learning and processing of new information.
