October Newsletter

from RCMQG

Is it quilt season yet?

This month we celebrate all things spooky, but we also celebrate much more than the sweets and screams we get on Halloween.

The months of September and October share the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage month. We also celebrate Columbus Day which doubles as Indigenous People's day.

No matter what you are celebrating this month, we are celebrating the start of all things cozy. Pull out those flannels and carefully stored quilts, it is time for smores and maybe some football(on tv of course).

The made fabric challenge reveal is this month!

The extremely talented Glenn Pettaway will be leading us in program on improv.

Following Genn's program, We will have an opportunity to participate in a virtual workshop by Carol Lyles Shaw. Anyone who would like to participate will register individually, and then we will coordinate participating together in the month of November. Learn more about this program HERE.

The auction is coming up and in preparation for that, all submissions for the auction need to be turned in very soon! The deadline for these will be at our Parking Lot Party this month!

Parking Lot Party

The last drop off day was so much fun! We had did pick ups and drop off for both charity and fundraising purposes. We even drew for prizes. Saturday, October 24th come hang out with us at S&R Sew and Vac in Huntsville from9:30-11:30 am.

Bring any finished submissions for the auction to this even. This will give time for the auction prep to begin without having a time crunch.

Bring a chair, a drink, and your mask. We can't wait to see you!

Holiday Gift Swap

Covid-19 has impacted everything this year, and no doubt it will affect our holiday plans. We've decided to make this an opportunity to try something new and fun!

This year we are going to do a "Porch Drop Swap". All you need to do to participate is purchase/make a gift, wrap it in a fat quarter and place it on your porch. Our officers will be following a route around to drop a gift on your porch, and pick your gift up! Your gift will be delivered to the next person on that route and so on. Think of it like a gifting round robin!

More details to come, but we wanted to give everyone ample time to make or purchase their holiday gift.
